Surf Coaster Gets Lap Bars And New Name.

Surf Coaster at Sea Paradise in Japan is undergoing a transformation into Surf Coaster Leviathan. The ride will feature new "Blade" trains, special effects and night lighting. Most interestingly the new trains are lap bar only replacing the old Togo OTSR's which can only be a good thing. And they look pretty funky too

The ride is due to reopen next Saturday.

I love the concept art for the trains. I'm assuming this has bizarre banking so no over the head restraints can only be a good thing.

It's nice that it's not just been scrapped or left SBNO. I kind of love those trains too, even though they are semi-grotesque.

This was my home park when I lived in Yokosuka. I could usually see the drop tower from work, depending on which pier we were on.

Anywho. I always thought it was a pretty decent ride, even if a bit overdependent on helices.
