Southport after Blackpool

After the Blackpool Live some of us visited Southport.

On the drive to Southport we passed the football stadium:

Some boats in Preston:

And some fish on a stick:

We then got a card loaded up with tokens and tackled the creds.

First up Crazy Mouse:

Standard spinning wild mouse, this one had a very good spin. From the top of the lift hill you could see broken castle theming.

Next up was this beast:

Go Gator layout with slightly bigger trains, well more space anyway.

On a hill next to it was this from Camelot:

I don't think I'll ever get that cred!

Next up we did Grand Canyon, complete with washing up liquid theming! It also passes through a truck.

We walked passed a not yet open cred

Spite.
No station:

Last up we did the Pinfari Wildcat. The smoothest one, that I have ridden.

With all the creds done, we went for a cheeky Nandos. The End.

Never thought there were so many creds in Southport! How many of them are actually there year round (I've tried looking it up on google maps, but for some reason satellite imagery for Southport hasn't been updated in like a decade)?
And that little cred, who makes those, since I think I saw its clone in an identical state some 2 weeks ago? It seems like a fairly new model to me :)

Yeah, DAL made Go Gators seem to have much bigger and more spacious trains than its Wisdom Rides counterparts. A good thing for European enthusiasts! :)

5 creds currently, although Coaster Count's current Happy Caterpillar listed cred is incorrect and was a normal Wacky Worm...

Spiteful place, and it's very depressing to visit since I'd not been since the initial closure...

They were building the station for that caterpillar ride when I visited in August last year - you'd think it would be done by now!

Space is good!

As for who makes the little cred. If you mean the mine train thing, it is made by a company called CAM.

^ Nah, I meant the yellow powered one that was still under construction during your visit. I have never seen one of those, at least not in Europe (it does look similar to those scattered around China).

Time for mine.

After Blackpool some of us went on to Southport in search of more credits. Given the night before I had quite a hangover, as did Vadge but the mediocre fry up and coffee at our B&B made us feel marginally better so we made our way to Southport. Despite you actually being able to see t'big un and the Tower from Southport it's an hour's drive as you have to travel quite far inland to get around the Ribble Estuary but we eventually arrived.

We waited a while for the others to turn up. Southport operates its rides on a token basis, they are £1 each. We headed over to the Crazy Mouse first, it cost 3 tokens.

I wedged in with Stone Cold and embarked on our plus one. It was pretty dull but had some nice spin. +1

Next we headed over to Family Coaster, which is basically just a Go Gator. This cost 2 tokens.

On board selfie.

I'll chuck some photos of the park here.

Either 5 months late or 7 months early, I wasn't sure.

They had the old engine powered cred that used to be at Camelot...although I can't help but think it won't take anymore more adrenaline seekers on a ride.

We moved on to the Grand Canyon. This was 2 tokens too.

11011603_10205866134486909_3452584835495442615_n.jpg

It has a bubble machine, I assume to simulate snow...in a desert environment. Not quite sure how that works. Anyway, +1.

The cars were quite fab

The caterpillar coaster sadly wasn't open yet, the ride station was still being built and a new fence had just been erected.

Sad for the spite :(

The last cred was the most substantial cred, Wildcat. This was 3 tokens.

It was alright, surprisingly smooth but it wasn't really anything special. That's another box ticked off on Coaster hyphen Count.

I was actually quite surprised by Southport. It was no where near as scummy as I thought it was going to be. It is renowned for being a place where 'creds go to die' but I feel it is a reasonably nice place for a couple hours/minutes fun at an amusement park.

We then headed over to the restaurant plaza in Southport to enjoy a Cheeky Nandos.

11260781_10100250523712280_9092706849473689240_n.jpg

Extra cheeky!

A few of us then headed slightly further south into Liverpool and to New Brighton to the New Brighton Funfair home to Wallis's Wonderful Wriggling Wirral Wacky Worm.

11193214_10205866145247178_1808757128159851975_n.jpg

It had a really nice shiny red apple.

10527445_10205866144087149_3119025977979231879_n.jpg

Tokens here were only 50p each and the coaster required 3. Cue selfie time.

It was another +1 but it was great to have ridden the 'famous' WWWWWW cred. Yay.

The rest of the place was quite ghetto.

After that it was time to say our goodbyes as Nic and I embarked on our long journey down south. The journey seemed to go on for ever and ever and I'm pretty sure I started to annoy Nic xD. She dropped me off at Gatwick where I caught the train to Portsmouth.

I had a nice day, Southport was alright, and a beautiful +5 to the count. Thanks to Nic once again for all the driving me around! Thanks for reading!

Thought it better to add to this thread rather than start a new one for such a mediocre park.

I went to Pleasureland last weekend and it looks like the Caterpillar has gone, and been replaced with 'Dragon Challenge', which I believe used to be the Dragon/Beastie at Alton Towers, based on info on RCDB and Coaster Count?

I have some pics but don't seem to be able to add them to the post - maybe because I'm a newbie? :?

The other four coasters listed in the reports above are still there btw. I enjoyed the Wildcat - nice airtime at the end of the ride. Everything else was naff.

Edit: Now able to add photos... Nice purple track!

Yeah Mat, you need four posts before you can put up pictures, or to know somebody who would be kind enough to let you ;)

Did you never go to Southport when it was a proper park? Wildcat is the original one that ran there for donkeys years.

I'm sure I can rack up 4 posts pretty quickly... That's 3! :--D

I never went to Southport when there was a proper park there. Shame, as the Cyclone and the wild mouse both looked fun.

There's an exact copy of The Cyclone in West Bengal, if you ever happen to be passing that way :p

I wonder if the first turnaround is just as slow as the original?
