Six Flags New England | Quantum Accelerator | Intamin Family Multi Launch Coaster | 2025

The park is an hour and a half from me, but it's 50/50 of whether I actually bother to make it out this year. I've gone a few times the last couple of years, which is more than I would've liked, so I kinda need a solid break from the park.

I like these models though, so if it turns out to be pretty good I'll wait for a mildly rainy Saturday or something (no way I'm going on a sunny/busy day).

Well.... the park has removed all traces of the June 20th date on their main website, as well as across their social media platforms...

Although they have made a post today on Twitter that says soon, with no further details 🤷‍♂️

It sounds like the ride may have been struck down by whatever is closing the SeaWorld straddle coasters, as per another thread on here.

It’s very odd that all the rides of that type seem to be simultaneously closing… without knowledge of the situation, I’d imagine it might be in response to some sort of minor incident, or maybe a part recall or something (I should preface that I don’t know this; it’s purely a theory of mine).

Oh man I wonder if QA isn't going through the same issues as the SEAS straddle issues, or if it is but they're expecting the issue to be resolved this week
 
Late last night I received an email stating that the media preview event scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed, with a new date to be announced at a later date. Sorry @CanobieFan, but there's definitely an issue of some sort with Intamin's straddle coasters.
 
Weird situation at Quantum, the coaster has been purged from Six Flags' website. Not a great look for your 2025 coaster that was at one point days away from opening; https://www.sixflags.com/newengland/attractions/quantum-accelerator

Word has it that United Parks discovered a defect on one of their own, which resulted in a recall going out and most straddle coasters grounded worldwide (not all of them use the same hardware, hence why Hagrid and Jet Rescue were unaffected). Another less solidified claim was that Quantum's motors weren't strong enough to consistently power the train through the launches, although we haven't really seen any reports on rollbacks so I'd take that one with a grain of salt.

Quantum has been seen testing since then, I wouldn't go as far as assuming it Top Thrill 2'ed itself but we might not hear anything about an opening until Intamin whips up a solution to whatever potential problem was found. Fingers crossed this is sorted out soon.
