Six Flags Indiana

Hyper Poster
After feeling a bit bored of building a scenic family park (Fantasipark) I wanted to get back to building more thrilling rides, not only that but I wanted to do something more generic and tacky that would be a "Thrill" based park. I was going to originally call it 'Thrillville" and base it off the 2006 game, but then I thought why not have a crack at creating my own Six Flags? I not sure if it's the realism thing or lack of creativity, but I do enjoy recreating regional chain parks. There isn't one specific park this is based on, but I am taking influence from a number of 'Six Flags' parks in the US as my aim to make this park more believable.

The Entrance is based off the defunct "Geauga Lake's"

Being a large American corporate park I guess it's normal to have a strong security presence. Most Six Flags parks I have seen have security checks before you get into the park. Shout out to Woultbelt who created those fantastic event fences, you can find their work on steam.

I think the entrance turned out well, but having another look at it makes me think of ways to improve it. The Turnstiles were downloaded from steam and are created by bestdani.

The generic main street style entrance. This was mostly modelled after the entrance area to Six Flags America.

It's looking a bit dull at the moment, but hopefully some signage with bring some life into it.

This wonderful sign is created by iDro. All the other janky crap was by yours truly.

This building shall be the park's Johnny Rocket's. The surrounding area will also be loosely themed to 1950/60s Americana.

This is my still untitled RMC. It's Six Flags so something along the lines of "[insert adjective here] Cyclone" My idea for this was that similar to the Roar/Joker conversion RMC were tasked to convert an early GCI coaster, so I tried to make the footprint feasible for a GCI while also making it a decent RMC. I am not 100 percent on this layout yet.

If you take a left from the main street you will find the "County Fair" section which includes 'Flashback' a Vekoma Boomarang coaster, 'Space Shuttle' an old school Intamin Looping Starship and of course the "Grand Carousel". After trying and losing my patience trying to build a carousel cover I gave in and downloaded this brilliant one by 'jobbo2002' from the steam workshop.

This B&M (Mega) hyper is 'Goliath' which is mostly based off the one at SFOG, I also took some inspiration from the one at LaRonde for the station building and sign.

I made the second half a twister in the spirt of 'Raging Bull'. I am quite pleased at how this one turned out.

-That's all I have got so far, I have been busy with work and life plus I have just started playing 'Planet Zoo' which has also taken up my time, so I am not sure how often I will update, but I hope to flesh out this park a bit more soon.

Only a small update as I have been busy transitioning into my new job. I have only finished the second area by the RMC, so not much to cover, but on a positive note I can now record pov's due to my much new and improved PC. (that cost me a sickening amount of money)

This is the area of the park that I have worked the most on, it doesn't look like a lot, but building off grid (and because I'm a slow builder) takes a lonnng a*** time.
20220127225116_1.jpgThis is the Johnny Rockets that I have been working on, I know a lot of people have criticised the World's Fair DLC, but the Diner set was a godsend.

Scale is always an issue in Planco when it comes to realism, almost every scenery piece is huge, which is great if you want to build an "out of the world" fantasy style park, but it's not so great for building intentionally crappy reginal parks. I have tried to keep most of my buildings below 8m as the buildings quicky dwarf the guests!
  • The building with the blue wall will be a gift shop as the guests exit the RMC
  • The building next to it is a donut stand
  • The little building under the coaster is a Dippin' Dots - this was downloaded from the steam workshop with a little tweaking on my part.
  • I have used metal roofs for the path fillers, but I am not 100% about the results.

Here it is "IRON TWISTER", it finally has a name. You don't want to know how long it took for me to come up with the most generic six flags title.

Since the my original post I have made changes to the layout of the RMC. Ultimately I just wasn't happy with it, the pacing was weird and the mid-section was too conventional in my view for a true RMC. ^The picture above is the old layout^

^and this is the new one!^

Super nerd alert!

A thing to bear in mind is that I like to think of a coaster's history as I build it. In my alternative history this coaster was built in 2016, the same time as The Joker at SFDK, similar to that ride, this coaster is a conversation on an early GCI, which is why I have tried to keep the footprint similar to a GCI, with lots of twists and turns, while at the same time avoiding the track from going directly under a turn, as GCI coasters don't typically do this for structural reasons, something I learnt from the great Silvarret.

Ooohhh baby a triple!!

A wave turn of sorts.
^Here is the POV

The car ride, almost every park has one - one of my favourite filler rides.

The area from the ground.

I haven't really progressed much on the other side of the park, but I did decide to rip out the original supports of the hyper (for the first hill at least) The reason is that the supports are waaaay to wide and because I want to be a pain in my own side I have chosen to custom support it. I have also started work on the park's log flume, which will travel through a wooded area when it's complete.

I'll finish off this update with a sneak peak of the coasters I have started work on, you might not see the floorless coaster for a while as it's located at the back of the park. I wonder what it will be "themed" to?

After having two weekends free, I have actually made some progress on this park! If you couldn't tell this is the "old west" area of the park, After one or two more buildings I'd say this area is complete.

From the guests perspective.

I felt that is was natural that this area of the park would be the most wooded, as most old west sections in Six Flags parks are often the older areas of the park.
20220228193039_1.jpg
This is probably the most time I have spent on flat ride. I feel like old Six Flags (during the Warner era) cared more about theming, so I guess this could of been built around that time.

This is "Runaway Mine Train" my attempt at a classic 70s Arrow terrain conforming Mine Train.

A bit of leaf grabbing action.

The POV

Here's the completely original "Great American Scream Machine!" I loved the name too much to call it anything else.
20220228194253_1.jpg
It's almost a clone of the ride at SFOG, except mine is a bit smaller and features a few more hills.

To finish off, here is a sneak peek of the Gotham City/DC comics area of the park that I have started to work on.
