As a general rule of thumb, we ask members to not post on 3+ month old topics or "dig up". That way we don't have random old topics being thrown on top of current discussions. Just something to bear in mind next time round!
The problem that shut down SoB was indeed structural integrity. However, it is still a VERY rough ride, and KI would want to consider options for smoothing out the track before reopening. That is after all the reason for removing the loop/adding new trains.
