SGAM American Eagle Blue to Close August 26

Strata Poster
Rumors have been showing up recently on screamscape that the blue side of American Eagle will close for an RMC conversion. This picture (courtesy of screamscape) seems to take that rumor to another level. It isn't clear if it will reopen next season, or will be a full year rehab.

That's quite interesting, having one side classic, the other side RMC.

According to SFGAM forums, 4 of those are posted in the exit side of the ride. Kind of odd considering the normal secrecy around these announcements. I'd call bs but they were also surveying the area between AE and Demon.

I'm starting to see a pattern here with Six Flags turning old woodies into awesome RMC coasters. If they keep on doing this every year, most of the Six Flags parks will have a RMC hybrid.

It was posted for employees, how is that a PR stunt?

I think it's genius to keep one side classic. It will bring more crowds to the ride for half the cost.

According to another forum, it was posted multiple places on the exit side of the station. That is not where you'd post a notice to employees.

Regardless you don't say a ride is closing as a stunt.

Just like you don't put up a fake website for a ride and leak it, right? :)

I think it's more likely than not that something is being done to Eagle but some of this is a bit fishy and makes me wonder.

Or maybe they're doing one side at a time, so they can keep the ride open all the way through?

Either seems to be a possibility. :)

they say its the last chance to ride it, so they arent just doing maintenance on it. I'm calling iron horse. that'd mean 2 iron horses in the same year. Medusa, and american eagle. interesting.

This should go in the Great America 2014 topic.

Also, I'm excited. Today's Follow the Journey video showed a folder with the Guinness World Records logo stamped quite predominantly on the front of it, so I think that we'll see one half classic, one half Iron Horse for a year.

The guy was also drinking from a Full Throttle can. I'm thinking the American Eagle thing is a false flag and we're going to get a Full Throttle clone with a slightly larger loop in the area between Eagle and Southwest territory. I just hope if they do it they work a Tidal Wave reference into it.

I hope I'm wrong because a properly done RMC conversion on Eagle would be amazing but the clues seem to be leaning away from it to me.

I don't think the Full Throttle mug means anything really. All signs point to an Iron Horse conversion for me IMO.

To avoid a double post, I'll just edit.

I saw pictures on Screamscape of a person in a Rocky Mountain Construction Group jacket on the exit line looking at Eagle Blue and surveying Eagle from the spot in the queue near the Dare Devil Dive Sky-Coaster, giving a thumbs-up signal.

Pictures can be found at the bottom of this page: http://screamscape.com/html/six_flags_great_america.htm

Full Throttle is a terrain coaster. Maybe we would see something like it but I highly doubt it would a an exact clone

Umm...you know you can BUY that hoodie, right?

RMC has a hoodie, ski cap and t-shirt for sale on their website. I saw an enthusiest wearing one at Gatekeeper media day. I think I even have a picture of it as well.

Gatekeeper is getting a RMC conversion!

I wonder how much SFGAm tests ideas through the teaser process. They know Eagle is a historic coaster and there could be backlash from touching it so they leak details to get some feedback before considering it.

Oh, and if SF is reading this: put a corkscrew in the RMC conversion of Eagle where the trains get close enough that you feel like you can high 5 each other.

I saw the RMC hoodie sale page after posting the link, and I doubt he actually works for RMC, but it's still plausible.
