Scream scape posted some news:
(3/17/09) In an interview Mark Shapiro, he mentioned that Six Flags is working on a combination Theme Park / Water Park / Hotel project for a location "just outside Johannesburg, South Africa." He also confirmed that plans for another Six Flags branded project in South Korea are also close to being finalized.

Here is the news article/interview: http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-bl ... ighl-4258/

It mentions the new parks:
Additionally, Shapiro said Six Flags is in discussions to develop an amusement park-water park-hotel project just outside Johannesburg, South Africa. A similar project in South Korea is “close to fruition,” he said.

A dubaliland update:
The Six Flags Dubailand project, solidly funded and now in the design and development stage, could see its 2012 debut delayed by up to a year, Shapiro said. The Dubai park will include two “world-class coasters” — one wood, one steel — on the order of El Toro and Kingda Ka in New Jersey’s Great Adventure park, Shapiro said.

And more SFMM random news:
Shapiro said Magic Mountain will get a new roller coaster in 2010 and a Wiggles World kiddie land by 2011. The adjacent Hurricane Harbor water park will see a new attraction in 2010, he said.

Enjoy!

There was a snippet in the newspaper a few days ago about how Six Flags was probably going to file for bankruptcy (spelling?)...judging from these plans it doesn't seem like that's too much of a problem?

^ I dunno about bankruptcy, aren't they the 3rd biggest theme park chain in the world? I assume its got to be pulling in some amount of money for them to stay around in this climate.

I don't know, their stocks are falling right now. (Currently there at 16 cents. Wow, that sucks!)
Right now I think they're trying to pump money into they're parks in hope of getting huge dividends back.
