How is there a competition!?

Rollercoaster has nothing except smoothness and lack of restraints (until recently), whereas Big Dipper is Blackpool's finest.

the loading is now pretty slow

Pretty! Is dreadful. I remember when there were none, you used to jump in and cruise off.

Big dipper has some nice airtime in the back car, and the back seat is major ejector. So on that basis, and the fact it is a rough old sod, it gets my vote.

Both are very unique rides with alot of history.

I don't like either over the other.

Big Dipper - Ok so it's not exactly Expedition GeForce airtime but it's such a fun ride with the very bizzare pre-lift section. I love the little headchoppers the ride provides.

Rollercoaster - Ok i've not ridden it with the seatbelts yet, but even do I can't imagine them hampering the ride that much. The station amuses me to no end with about a 1ft wide platform..

I don't see why people slate them for something they were never meant to be. They weren't designed with throwing people out of their seats. Well atleast Rollercoaster wasn't..

Having never ridden it without seatbelts I dont know the difference but just do what me and Kat did and have it shut but as loose as it will go ;) you still have it on that way.
Yeah, plus its not as if they even check the seatbelts, and you cant feel anything difference in riding it either imo.
I prefer the rollercoaster I think, because its smoother and I get the butterfly feelings in my tummy when you go down the drops as they are so smooth, not airtime though, as in bum off the seat, but im not one who has to have "airtime" to deem a coaster enjoyable.
I do enjoy Big Dipper but not as much as I used to.
