If we go back and look at National Geographic's Super Coasters

we will see that coasters could go completely nuts. Almost halfway through the video
they talk about LIM's having the ability to launch something at over 700 mph; oh my!
Only some jets have gone that fast. Most people could not handle that.

Just because they can launch up to 700mph, doesn't mean they will - I don't doubt that if people wanted to, they could build rollercoasters as tall, or taller, than the tallest skyscrapers in the world, but they don't, because 300ft is plenty to give the sensation of being out of control without costing too much.

I guess if you could quantify 'thrill' and plot a graph of thrill against size of coaster (keeping the quality of all other aspects of the design the same) it would form a sort of hyperbola (1/x) graph, where change in height makes a big difference to the amount of thrill for a while, but then after you reach about 200ft, people wouldn't notice it so much. A rather silly analogy (and possibly quite a boring one too, for non mathsy people) but that's how I think.

And Cmonster - No posting off topic

just missed a program on channel 5 called building the ultimate: thrill rides
Could be on demand 5!

It repeats every 5 mounts or so.

Just a heads up to everyone to check out 'Undercover Boss' on CBS at 9pm Sunday night. The CEO of Herschend Family Entertainment (who own Dollywood & Silver Dollar City), goes undercover at SDC for this episode. It will be interesting to see if he actually operates one of the rides & what other jobs he might do. It will also be cool to see what kind of improvements he will make to park operations from the experience.

^ Yahh I saw that advertised, I think that show is so cool and when I saw it was at a park, I was wondering which one it was so thank for clearing that up :p .

I'll be watching it.

Just watched the first episode of Scream If You Know The Answer from Thorpe Park on Watch. I thought it would be naff, and it's actually very funny. Cleo was amazing and they actually get the stats right :O

Watching the second episode now :)

Just tried to watch Scream if You Know the Answer, it was pretty lame. When they introduced Suzanne Shaw I kinda got freaked out (she's the evil woman who's stolen my name and associated it with porn on the Internet )

Switched over to find the girl from Doctor Who on The One Show in a red dress - so watched that instead. Thorpe didn't stand a chance...

Surely gingers should be the last people to wear red clothing? :?

*TV ALERT TOMORROW*

Channel 4 - 5 O'Clock show. 5pm.

Presenter: Vernon Kay

Noticed he will be riding Stealth and reviewing

There's this TV show called scream if you know the answer that's set at Thorpe Park and people have to do challenges on the rides, things like quizzes and naming words in different catagories, drawing a picture whilst on Vortex that the other person has to guess - It looked like a good programme but it was only shown on watch and I don't have that channel, so i'm only going on some youtube clips I saw.

Saw this advertised but then forgot to watch it,so was pleased to see it appear on Youtube.
