This is a little old but Chuanlord Holiday Manor has opened the first Chinese rip off Maurer Söhne Skyloop.

The main difference with the Beijing Shibaolai Amusement Equipment model is that it uses OTSR instead of the X-Car restraints we know.

I can imagine this hurting.... Gavin should ride this in the next few days so we should find out very soon.

^I've been on two of them: the original model at Skyline Park, and the one in Helsinki, which I'm pretty sure was new that year.

I actually really liked them. I'm not sure what the Chinese version will be like; some knockoffs are gross while others are totally acceptable.

I'll be at Chuanlord in the morning anyway.

Say this knock off were to be built in the UK, would it still pass all the necessary safety requirements and be able to get an ADIPS certificate? (If that's what they get..)

I should think so, they're actually one of the better Chinese companies (in my VERY limited experience). Gavin's the one to comment, but I know they supply Happy Valley parks and most of the parks in and around Beijing. I'd say they're not as rough as your average SLC.

^ Happy Valley use Western companies for anything bigger than a basic spinner.

Both new coasters are a bit gross. The sky loop has a really nasty snap through the inversion - in the front seat anyway; I didn't try anywhere else. It doesn't coast quite as high up as the regular versions either; it doesn't make it back into the inversion like the others I've done.

The looper has some of the most intense vertical loops I've ever ridden. The drop height to loop height is really off. The corkscrews are rough. I rode back row though, so I was asking for it.

I would not trust anything as big as this at Chuanlord, Jesus what a dump.

Is the Looping Toboggan still horrific?

The toboggan is SBNO. It seems like they're actually putting a lot of work into the place. Loads of construction going on and some really nice areas.

I was expecting a hole, but it's really not bad at all now.

I'll do a proper report in the next week or so.
