I thought I'd start a topic for general "PR Stuffs" that we tend to overlook or doesn't deserve a topic of its own. Also added in stupid news items too :)

This week so far we have Drayton Manor in "Wedding Ring Rescue":
http://www.thisistamworth.co.uk/Drayton ... story.html

A brave employee (Smeagol?) risked nothing to don some waders and get a lost wedding ring. Still, it shows they're willing to make a little effort for guests, so it's not all bad but hardly newsworthy.

Slightly more newsworthy is Jake's favourite park getting an online "best UK park award". Paultons Park won the vote from Netmums, which meant that around a million mums could have voted. Probably only 20 did, but it's the potential numbers that are important (I've done the same myself, over sell ;) )

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - Another Ring Piece!

Yeah, I saw the Paultons/Daily Echo news report last week, thought "Oh, look, there's Rob and Steve". That was the extent of my interest because I've always known it's the best park children ;)

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - Another Ring Piece!

Net mums sounds VILE, a bunch of mums moaning about the price of cereal in ASDA or how they don't get special treatment because they have kids or something <//3

And Paultons should be proud....I guess?

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - Another Ring Piece!

Women with pushchairs should alway push them in the middle of the pavement and stop randomly to chat to other mums with pushchairs. That way, everybody else's can move into the road around them whilst they chat about the price of cereal in Asda. Oh, they should also stop in the middle of shop doorways to collect a shopping basket. It's ok, love, I'm quite happy to waste 30 seconds of my lunch break because you don't want to waste 10 seconds of your life parking the buggy slightly to one side. **** hate pushchairs.

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - Another Ring Piece!

Paulton's confirming their stratergy for up coming years on their Blog. A new ride/attraction every year! I hope they are going to expand to some undeveloped land otherwise it could get very crowded!

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - Another Ring Piece!

Not really a PR stunt for the park, more for the celebs involved, but a bit of publicity for Adventure Island won't go a miss.

Shake, rattle and rollercoaster
Jamie Oliver and farmer Jimmy Doherty scoff food on a ride for a second day of filming new telly show - this time with Wossy

JAMIE Oliver, Wossy and Jimmy Doherty got milk-shaken around on a rollercoaster ride for a second day of filming Jamie and Jimmy's Food Fight Club.

Earlier this week, Jamie and his farmer pal Jimmy dressed up as Smurfs and whizzed around on Adventure Island white-knuckle ride Rage with X Factor judge Gary Barlow.

They followed this by jumping on the rollercoaster once again yesterday - this time with telly chat show host Jonathan Ross.

The trio scoffed chips and milkshakes as they zoomed around on the hair-raising ride.

For the new Channel 4 programme Jamie and Jimmy have taken over a seaside cafe and invited a load of celebrity pals along for some fun.

Can't find any pics of the Gary Barlow/Smurf thing, then again, I didn't look.

Eating food on a roller coaster? Good to see Jamie Oliver tapping the hilarious memories we have of popular presenter Jimmy Savile.

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - What a load of crappers!

Aww furie, I was just about to make a topic!
I laughed so hard when I saw that this morning!

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - What a load of crappers!

Looks like a lot of **** that theme park.

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - What a load of crappers!

Good to see that the Koreans' disturbing scatalogical obsessions haven't subsided over the last few years.

Peasants.

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - Have you 'bin' scrapping?

Sorry, not quite so funny this time. However, Gordon Gibb, the Chief Executive of Flamingoland is due to go to court for attacking a man selling 2-4-1 tickets outside the park in July:

Professional!

Also, Drayton officially have the best rubbish of any theme park in the UK ;)
They use eco friendly bins to reduce land mass and to recycle with over (are you ready for this, Ian) 100 special bins!!!!
Wow.

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - Famous Dead Person Theme Par

Classic one for a Monday morning courtesy of The Guardian.

You've all heard that there are plans to build a theme park in Abbottabad, the place Bin Laden was shot dead, yes? No?

Anyway, they are (not a Bin Laden themed one admittedly).

The Guardian suggests Leicester should do the same and have a Richard III theme park and draws the similarities between the two towns :)

It's obviously tongue in cheek and not quite PR, but it amused me.

Re: This week's Theme Park PR - Famous Dead Person Theme Par

That is weird but Leicester is near Cambridge so it would be good for me! Although it won't happen.
