Frightening visitor numbers see record breaking Halloween weekend for Lightwater Valley

Over 11,000 visitors turned out for an epic scaring at Lightwater Valley’s Frightwater Valley and Nightwater Valley events this weekend - a number which tops the park’s record high of 10,000.

Running from 31 October – 2 November 2013, Frightwater Valley this year brought together over 100 community actors from Harrogate Theatre, Leeds Metropolitan University, Pink Ink Entertainment, Jack in the Boxx and T Park to deliver a huge scare factor.

From Raptor Attack LIVE! and The Graveyard and Haunted Trail, to magical shows and theming, as well as puppet shows and Eagles’ Creep Farm for younger visitors, the park summoned an awesome amount of unearthly content to deliver the ultimate spine-chilling adventure for families.

On 3 November Nightwater Valley fireworks provided a thrilling cocktail of pyrotechnical wizardy, set in the beautiful surroundings of the park’s boating lake. Nightwater Valley usually marks the end of the park’s season, although this year its new Angry Birds Activity Park will remain open all year round.

Lightwater Valley’s autumn programme of events ends with the Dickensian Festival at the Lightwater County Shopping Village (28 November – 1 December), which this year includes cooking demonstrations by Yorkshire-born celebrity chef Stephanie Moon and Yorkshire’s loudest town crier.

How many years have they been doing the Halloween events for?

At least the numbers are going up. That's good news for a park that needs all the income and investment it can get.

Here are a couple of pictures from the event, more can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 291&type=3

Just out of interest, since their gate figures were high enough to brag about, how much did the drama students, am dram actors and other random people get paid for the event?

I didn't realise REBEL was a drama student.

^She comes under the "random people" banner.

They were mainly using drama students and local amateur dramatics groups for the events by the sounds of it.

I'm just curious as to how that worked, especially since they've had their best year ever.

I did not come under "random people" because i came under the name of T-Park (http://www.tpark.co.uk/) same for the other 3 who worked with me in raptor attack though one of them runs T-Park, it was purely ran by enthusiasts under that name.

most of the people who did the scare attractions were theater companies but there was also dance groups and bands there who did the shows and other groups/companies, schools/universities who helped so it was very mixed but there were not random people doing it as i said the were all groups and companies who took part.

i dont know how it worked as some of the scare attractions were shut due to the other companies/groups did not want to anything for example one group did the path way to ultimate and the other major rides, they were meant to also do a haunted walk way in the forest by the lake but they refused to do it.
Also project Ultimus was not very good on the first day so on the second day they closed it for a few hours to fix it up and make it look better.

All the scare attractions were not that good at all except raptor attack live which by public and staff said it was the best ride there, we were that good that someone demanded a refund because we were to scary
