Port Aventura future plans

Better than it was though. I didn't realise there was so little at the water park last year and was quite disappointed.

^Im not to sure what your on about, PortAventura uploaded a video to youtube yesterday showing the water park and showing the new slides they are building, they are still building Europes tallest water slide and the 6 lane mat racer slide.

The waterpark expansion has been on the cards for years. The original project included a huge volcano and similar waterslides running on its side, as if they were lava rivers. Those slides were meant to take the world record for tallest waterslides (so, over 150 feet), but the final slides will be just over 110 feet.

Anyway, the main slides are going up fast. Here are some pics:

In this last picture you can see the parts of the racer slide waiting to be assembled.

I hope the tower is themed a bit, because it looks ugly as ****!

Those colours are vile, I also hope they theme the tower, it look's awful and not up to the standard you expect from a park like PortAventura.

What happened to the original volcano concept??
I'm guessing a cost issue on this one.

Still, glad that they're even bothering to add the new slides. As much as I love Caribe, it was lacking several styles of slides. Now all they need is a Funnel/Bowl slide and they're within 5/6years of the other parks ;)

ProSlide has posted a video of the tests on the tallest body slide:

And updated logo. Looks nice but nothing stunning.

Also, according to the trademark webpage, these are some of the suggested logos (and names) for the slides:

katarata.jpg

I guess that Rapid Race will be for the mat slide and Katarata will be for the triple-down slide.

And there is also another rumour suggesting that the tallest slide will be called "King Kahuna".

Those logos have just made my arse wink. They're so wrong.

That's shocked me with the slides, no theming AT ALL up to now? Even the rest have ropes and distressed theming on them...

^Supposedly, these are provisional logos, although I don't dig them either.

About the themeing on the tower, I am not hopeful. Maybe they'll paint the tower structure to make it look like wood (ala Duinrell) but that's it. Long gone are the days when PA used to be a "theme park". Now it's just a park with average and cheap theme on their rides.

That's a big shame, they could have made a SLIGHT effort with this. Still it's an investment that was MUCH needed.

^ Such a useful post ;)

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know when the new section is opening? Is there still time to tart the new slide tower up?

The slides has been testing, so it can't be to far away.
