Phantasialand | F. L. Y. | Vekoma Launched Flying Coaster | 2020

Well, cutting ride's capacity could be counter balanced by adding more trains, ensuring rides work at their maximum capacity even if the day is slow.

However, this poses another problem: with so many guests per hour grabbing onto bars, harnesses, how can you make sure that rides are as sanitised as you would expect? If you really want to do things right, I guess you could have a crew disinfecting every train upon arriving to the ride's station, which could as well hinder operations. Or you could just make it compulsory for everyone to wear a mask AND gloves prior to entering the ride's queue area and boarding the train.
Long term solution for something like Taron: install a car wash machine with dryer on the track in the station between the disembarking and embarking.
Cheap solution: Get slave operators to wipe everything down relentlessly.

Will parks be able to make any money if they reduce capacity drastically to be able to comply with any possible government legislation?

This.

Some of the solutions in this topic people are coming up are so unrealistic it hurts my brain, if the parks are going to have to limit the number of guest, they aren’t going to run rides on maximum capacity with multiple trains because that would cost them more in maintenance. Less people through the gates means less income, then with higher ride running costs, it wouldn’t make sense.

Instead of this ridiculous guessing game what’s getting nobody anywhere, why not just wait until an official announcement from the park about what changes (if any) will be put into place when they finally reopen.

Because what else is there to talk about? This is not something that has happened before so people are just guessing how things will turn out.
In actual fact several park owners including the Plospa guy has suggested many things people are pointing out: time slots, reduced capacity, social distancing within the park. There are also already lots of ramblings about face masks in Europe now.
Thus not far fetched at all or a ridiculous guessing game I think. I think a combination of the suggestions will probably be put in place in every theme park at least for a certain amount of time. I'd also rather things went back to normal and for us not to have a guessing game at all but it seems things have changed for good in the last month after coronavirus related death numbers exploded particularly in Europe and in the USA.

Better for the parks to try to make some money than let them just die and blindly accept that magically in 2021 things will be fine, there will be no more coronavirus or there will be a magic vaccine. These things may never happen.

Bringing this back to FLY. I think it is likely we are going to see FLY open this year with some set of Corona virus spread mitigation procedures in place. If capacity is reduced at Phantasialand during opening it will be quite an exclusive coaster to ride this year possibly.

Well, the obvious (though probably not everyones favorite...) way out is to significantly raise the price for that period. Somehow this will self-regulate the situation by attracting fewer people while mitigating the financial loss a bit. Of course, I don't know if something like this would be well received. People might be pissed off and in the end it will probably not make up for the fewer guest. But it might be better than not opening at all. Personally, I would accept a significantly higher price, if it's really just for that period. But ok, I'm a fan and I'm in the comfortable situation to not suffer financially from this crises, so who am I to propose something like this....

I would happily pay 100€ to visit Phantasialand if it would mean that there aren't any long queues and the park wouldn't be closed for the entire season.
I wouldn't even complain if i had to wear the false sense of security masks.

I was at the park yesterday. It was almost six in the evening but I could see some testrides. The ride is very quiet and the launch is not as noisy as we know it from taron. The first few times I failed to make a video because even a small breeze makes it impossible to hear the train accelerating and passing the first element.. which is almost the only part of the ride you can see from outside.

I couldn't see any but as it was talking to some workers leaving the construction site and one guy told me that at some point he could see people inside the train.

I've also seen a few rumours on social media that F.L.Y. has had its first riders. Suppose it has been testing since the end of January so its quite likely to have gotten to that point now (those lucky bastards from Vekoma and PHL eh...).

On PhantaFriends its been pointed out that external theming work such as metal beams being attached and installation of the railings along the balconies/walkways has been taking place.

Another poster reported yesterday morning a number of truss like structures were delivered onsite (presumably more various prefabricated theming elements).

Intriguingly there was also a lorry from SAD Maschinebau - the firm specialises in ride manufacture and overhaul/maintenance. Of course having already unloaded whatever it was there for we can't say for certain why exactly they were at the park; if was even for Rookburgh or something else. Although given the park had planned to already open by now it seems unlikely it is for ride maintenance - unless there was an outstanding technical issue with something I suppose.
There still is that circular platform speculated to be for a future flat ride on the other side of the Wuze Wall (where the Rookburgh advertisements and model were placed last year) so potentially they could have delivered a new ride. Although quite possibly they have just fabricated further theming elements for the area (in fact that'd be my guess).

Its certainly all still going full steam ahead towards completion. Shame we likely can't enjoy it within a couple months when it is done.:p

They took the gondola from Talocan and put it on the truck.
I was going for a run and saw the gondola strapped on the back of the truck. When I came back, the truck was gone.
Sorry for not making pictures, but I did not carry my phone.

ahhh thanks for the info! Interesting. Must be using this extra time for a major overhaul - or/and it was still giving them trouble when testing for the new season. Hopefully it is effective. Talocan has had quite a bit of downtime in the past year. Apparently an issue with parts though I'd heard? Seems to be worrying trend for Huss TopSpins at the moment. Walibi Holland's Topspin also had considerable downtime past year I believe, and Movie Park Germany's did too and then ran last summer only with 1 inversion/flip per cycle.
