I do CASUAL park trips with CASUAL park goers. I've never done a serious park trip with a non-enthusiast, as I think it'd just be frustrating. Plus, you're supposed to be the expert - which is also a bit annoying sometimes. 
I have had many, very enjoyable trips to parks with non-enthusiasts though. For the most part this is revisits to parks I've done before (meaning there's little issue is faffing or riding the **** stuff), but I've done a couple of first time visits to small parks. The people I go with know, and generally tolerate, me riding all the creds. These friends (or my brother) tend to be reasonably keen for re-rides and the bigger coasters though, so it's never been difficult.
I think I'd avoid doing one of the big American parks (for example) for the first time without enthusiasts though.
