NFL/College Favorite American Football Teams

College: Ole Miss
NFL: New York Giants

Yeah, I'm more of a baseball person myself though.

Cant really stand football, too repetitive and gets boring (to me) after a while.

Yeah, same here, I just don't like football.

You don't like football because its boring and repetitive.. but you like baseball?

Seems legit.

I don't really watch college football, so I don't have a favorite college team :| But my favorite NFL team is the Pats, as I live in MA.

How do you feel about IU snoo?

They're up and coming. Hopefully Kevin Wilson keeps them riding good. I don't hate many teams in the Big Ten minus Wisconsin and Michigan. I'm actually a huge fan of Northwestern, even though they could beat us this year.

I can't explain it. I am always so interested in a Baseball game, but when I watch football I just find myself bored. Don't know why, just a baseball fan.

I wasn't sure if you hated them, but our basketball team is gonna destroy ;)

They have done studies, and the actual game of football takes up about 12-14% of the game played. So for every minute on a football clock, 45 seconds of nothing happens. We see it as replays, or close ups of the cheerleaders. But there is a lot of nothing.

That being said, I don't find it reptitive at all. I consider myself to have an above average level of sports IQ, so I may be coming from a bad pov, but every play is unique, and teams rarely lineup in the same formation on back-to-back plays, taking out the repetitive-ness of it. I enjoy watching the formations, and the football coach lineage in me taught me to watch the lines instead of the QB, as that is where the real action is.

I also don't find baseball repetitive. It does get drawn out over the course of the game, but I would rather sit through a pitching coach making a visit to the mound 2-3 times a game then an NBA game with 32 fouls and 16 time outs in the last 2 minutes.

I think where baseball gets its rap is the season is 62 games too long. 1 NFL football game is 6% of the season. Every play is a big deal for the big picture. 1 baseball game .617%, less than a percent, they are not meaningless, but losing a game will not make or break your season (in the moment). In fact, 10 losses in MLB = 1 NFL loss over the course of the season. In a culture that every day is moving closer to instant gratification, the length of the MLB season does not meet its needs.

I know I am going to get a tl/dr. I am bored at work and tired of crunching numbers.

Losing a baseball game can break a season in MLB, just ask the Rangers about game 162 last year. (I laughed my ass off though)

While numbers can be interesting, at the end of the day it becomes personal interest on how much you like a sport. Being a fan of and participating in all these sports + running track and cross country, I've noticed which is more boring to watch opposed to participate in.

Going to a football game to watch with mild interest, especially if you go to a major program/team (where breaks can take LONG chunks because of TV), I can understand the chunks of nothing occurring frequently. While going as a HUGE fan, you just ignore the crap and interact with friends as that's part of the fun IMO.

Of course, while I playing football in high school (and JV, and freshman.. ect ect), we didn't have that unless we played in a popular game (my area had a HS Game of the Week, including playoffs, which included a few breaks for commercials). we had plays much more frequently, games were much more exciting (like most things are if you participate). To be honest, if I had to choose, I would chose HS football over major college in terms of watching. Of course, I don't really have interest as I graduated HS in 2005 and my child is a good 12 years away from going to a school I want to cheer for.

Now having played baseball, and having been quite good at it (only stopping to run track which I ended up being much better at), playing in the game gets dry after a long period, even with more percentage of game being played. Fan wise? I went to an Indian game in the cheap seats a few years ago.. could barely stay a few innings.. and it was a pretty good game where runs were being scored, great plays, ect ect.

As Tom noted, the longer season full of a lot of games that don't matter doesn't help. Basketball suffers the same fate (I didn't watch Cleveland games until the playoffs tbh), along with some portions of NFL. College football, while having some games meaningless and boring, a majority games (especially if you are a major program or even mid major looking to earn a bowl/conference game) are a great experience because even if it is a good team, like my Buckeyes of last season, close games against mid-level to crap opponents can happen.

tl:dr.. its a matter of what you like, like anything in life. Baseball is boring, football is not, but that's me. ;)

Hehe I knew it would be coming from someone but wouldn't it be boring without rivalries ? Still we are going to spoil your undefeated season :p

If you can stop that turnover orgy/actually run the ball.. you might have yourself a game. ;)

Yeah the turnovers and the horrible offensive line play hurt us a lot this season, I hope they get it (somewhat) fixed before the OSU game otherwise it´s going to be super tough :/

Actually, for NFL it is 49ers. Patriots are a close second though. We aren't doing so well this season. At least we kicked the Redskins ass last night.
