From Save Dreamland newsletter:

Such a buzz in the Dreamland Visitor and Learning Arcade this week when the new timbers for the Scenic Railway arrived in Margate.

Since our September newsletter, Dreamland’s 1920 Grade II*-listed Scenic Railway has been a hive of activity with design and build specialists, Topbond, removing the buildings and structures in, and around, the UK’s iconic historic thrill ride. Sections of the old timber have been removed (much of which is in a rotten state, and some we hope to salvage). The new wood has now been delivered to the Dreamland site.

The Dreamland Trust is working with Howard Griffin from the Kent School of Architecture to create a time lapse video of Dreamland’s evolution. Howard is uploading footage onto our YouTube channel each month. The first episode, shot two weeks ago, is now available to view, the second episode will be posted shortly - please visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBUS6_s5dNw to watch this amazing transformation!

It's actually happening! That's two things to look forward to in the UK next year.

Yeah, I think Nick has a load of passionate plans for Dreamland. Over the years, it'll be transformed into a nostalgic, traditional park with good ol' fashioned values.

I really hope it works and that people from all over the country - not just theme parks goons - support it so it thrives.

There's 3 old Margate rides in Scotland I hope they can bring back.

The Looping Star, that big moon thing and the Mary Rose.

Like Gavin though I just cannot see the park doing enough with just old rides. Think it will be ok for two or three years but then people will stop going.

Hope I am wrong though.

Really looking forward to this, I never went to Margate when it was open so it'll be a completely new experience for me!

I popped into Margate yesterday. Whilst I was there, I took a visit to the park Expo, and went for a little nose at the scenic. Trip report here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38418

For what it's worth, from what I've seen so far, I think this will be a success. They're being very careful to keep the emphasis on having this as a nostalgia filled historic attraction, rather than trying to compete with any of the more modern parks. I think it'll be almost more of a living museum where you get to actually ride the exhibits. People will visit for the chance to feel like they've been transported back in time as much as they will to be subjected to g-forces on the rides. All of that combined with a lot of other regeneration projects in the town (and the wider Thanet area) give me confidence that this will be a sustainable attraction.
