New Flat Ride Ideas

I've got an idea for an inverting drop tower that would work.

InvertingDropTowerconcept.jpg

Tower is the black bit.

The great thing about this is that it doesn't need any height at all to be brilliant.

Nice.

I've got one.

Its a 100 ft tower with a a submission car attached to it. As the car does its normal programme, it would move up the tower and down to create a really dizzying affect. It'll probably have some major hang time, but who cares?

Saying that, I'm not sure if it'll actually work!

What about a double discuss? (Basically malestrom/maxair with two ends!)

Like below...

Would this even work????? (I saw it made out of K'NEX and it works quite well), the only problem I can see is loading and unloading....

^If you mean two ends of one long stick, no, how would that ever work...? One end would be... upside down.

Two on one structure could work, a bit like Rush but with discs. You'd have to wonder what the point is mind.

^Yes, it would be pretty pointless making it like rush...

I do have a solution to the loading/unloading problem though...what if a part the rods moved so it looked like this? But with both sides looking the same...

^^^ It would be like a spin doctor, except it would have no way of turning around at the top as you'd have blood rushing to your head for as long as it takes to load 30 or so people on the other end, ouch!

As Ben said, two on one frame could work, it could actually be quite cool if they were gyro disc's which swung in opposite directions and had some near miss interaction at the bottom. But the frame would have to be huge.

So, not like Maelstrom/Maxair at all...

People, this is why we make our original posts make sense!

Yeah, the loading would be a problem there, and it wouldn't really be worth it for the ride experience, which would basically be that gross thing at Fantasy Island. But double ended.

I think such a ride would fit for a large park where some areas have height or noise restrictions. If you can't make one giant pendulum, make two smaller, dueling ones, to cope with the crowds. Kinda like what Everland did with their swinging ships.

In other words, a proper niche ride.

I think that Huss should look into expanding on there Jump rides, Canada's Wonderland has the only Jump Huss 2. I really think that with some of the mechanically problems fixed there could be more moving parts added. Like what if they made each pair of seats spin 360 degrees.

It's not really what Everland did. They have 2 ENORMOUS ships (hold 100 people each), and usually only operate one anyway.

Curious as to why no other park has a Huss Jump as well. I thought it was a great ride. I have no idea about cost and reliability though.

I freaking LOVE the Huss Jump at Canada's Wonderland <3

I'd quite like to see duelling Frisbees on one structure, that'd be quite fab <3

But, urgh, flats.

I'm not sure I understand? So it has cocks instead of seats?

They're meant to be seats just I'm admittidly bad at drawing, especcially on a computer.

I don't know about the cost, but the one at CW was put in 2003 with 2 other Flat rides, so it can't have been a major investment. For the first couple of seasons it ran perfectly on a more advanced cycle, but recently they've put it on a basic cycle and it breaks down constantly. Half the time i visited the park this year its been not operating.

I think that if they can fix these problems then, there is room to tinker with it and make it a little wilder.

I reckon it is due to mainence. When I went it was broken...

Here is mine. It is basically a swinging ship that starts up top and goes DOWN into the loop.

It would probably hurt, but who cares. It would also be cool if it had water effects like Huss Top Spins.

^ To be fair, just because it was broken down when you went doesn't mean it has bad maintenance.
And with your idea, it would be too forceful, unless it was taken at a controlled speed.
Anyhow, it would be painful and boring.

I was there for two weeks. I certainly didn't go everyday, but I kept checking back on some website, and it was down the whole time. I went 3 times to the park.

Hence the name, Ride of Death!

Whilst his idea looks like something a four year would **** out, he is right about Sledehammer, it is a mechanical nightmare for CW.

It's fab though <3
