New Coaster for Toverland.

Anyone heard anything new of this supposed coaster??

Regarding the possibility of a B&M it's quite possible. The only two new B&Ms for next year that I've heard of are Intimidator at Carrowinds and the new flyer for China. And as far as I know B&M build three new coasters a year, so there is yet one to be revealed!

Other options are of course a new Vekoma in the land of Vekoma itself! I would consider an SLC as "more thrilling" than Troy, and it obviously can incorporate water effects hence Infusion already has done it. But if it's a Vekoma I would rather see a costum looping coaster with their new design (mega-looper even?) or maybe a stingray..

You do know that they need a customer/client to WANT them to build a coaster first? So if only 2 parks have contacted them, we'll only see 2 new B&M's.

Yea, but hence B&M manufactures coasters that are both reliable and have high capacity, and are popular among guests too I guess they are very coveted by the parks! So I suppose that they often have more than 3 interested parks a year but they have to chose their clients. I'm almost certain that their will be announced another B&M for next season, maybe at Toverland...

B&M builds as many coasters as are ordered. Didn't they have a year or two where they put in 5?

Anyways, the rumor I'd heard put two B&M's in Europe in 2011...

^Ok, I assume you're right. But Claude or Walter, can't remember who, said at IAAPA that they only build three coasters a year to maintain their quality. They didn't want to hire more people to be able to build more coasters hence they wanted to be included in all the work themselves to assure the high quality of their rides.

There were 6 new B&Ms in 2006, 4 in 2003, 7 in 2002, 4 in 2001, 6 in 2000, 7 or 8 in 1999 (depending on how you count Dueling Dragons), 5 in 1997 and 4 in 1994.

I'd say that they will design whatever someone pays them to design. They are still a for profit company.

I found this clip where Walter Bolliger is being interviewed by Rob Alvey (interview starts 0:30). Walter says that "our company makes three coasters per year, thats what we do". But I guess that's a highly inaccurate statement then :P or he might meant to say "this" year but got it wrong...

When they say "build" does he mean design?

There may have been 7 in whatever year but how many were clones that only required steel work? If you know what I mean.

Could be could be. There are quite a number of Batman clones so I guess that's a rational explenation.

Dunno, but the statement doesn't match reality.

I'm pretty sure the sentiment was meant to reflect that they deliver high quality product, not high quantity. I've read interviews where he says essentially the same thing, but it's clearer what his intention is.

But I'm sure its them making sure they can afford materials for the building of the track and trains during the current economic climate.

Um, no. The tracks are fabricated by a different company, to B&M's specifications. Typically, the parks take loans to pay for the rides. It's the 'banks' that take the risk if the parks can't repay the loans.

Six Flags bankruptcy, anyone?

Lets just hope that they can maintain it better than Troy...
What? Is Troy in bad shape after only two years? At least it can't be in that bad shape hence it came 13th at Mitch Hawkers poll this year..

^ Well, according to GCI then all the trains should be gone through after every 120 days of operation (length of a normal season) which means that both trains on Troy should be disassembled 3 times a year (since it's open year round), but they aren't...
They have tried to get new wheel bearings on warranty, since the old ones were worn out and rusted to pieces... (If you take care of your coaster then a bearing should last much longer then that).
Also the bar that goes behind the seat is moving about which it's not supposed to do...
There should be some rubber paddings on the anti-roll back devices, but they were long gone when I rode it, making it the most deafening lift I have ever been on...
There are protocols to follow on all the maintenance that you should follow, dayly, weekly, monthly, etc. to prevent all these problems...

The GCI guys know about it, and they were in the works to make an inspection of the ride, so hopefully it will be taken care of better in the future...

I really hope that the new ride is a Vekoma, since then they can more easily get help when it brakes down.

I read over at TPR that the groundworks has begun behind Troy, no pictures though. I also found some old blueprints of a Batman clone over at Screamscape, that supposedly should have come from Toverland. And at last, I don't know if it has already been said, but the ride will open in July if everything goes as planned!

Hmm... very interesting...

Though, they should have done all that by now, surely? I mean, if they still haven't cleared the land, then they surely can't get a coaster up by opening day? Either, they're delayed, or it's not a coaster. I'm very excited, though.
