Really hyped for this album, it's a serious blast to the past for Dream Theater!
I'll see your On The Backs of Angels (which actually, I don't like all that much until the 6 minute mark - it's another... meh pre-release single on the lines of Constant Motion, Rite of Passage or Forsaken) and raise you: Beneath The Surface. This is going to be special...

I've tried to stay spoiler-free since just after that was released, and it's killing me!!

It's been killing me too, I couldn't resist this though...
Try to resist Will, you can resist!

It's so good! <3

ARGH, why would you do that!?
Temptation, why won't you leave me alone! Lurking in every corner, everywhere I go.
Self-control, don't turn your back on me now, when I need you the most!

But if you can believe it, I've not clicked... not even for one second. TAKE IT AWAY!
Come Monday morning, I'll be outside HMV (pre-ordering was 3 days late with BC&SL >:C)
And the really good news is they've just announced tourdates in February :D

^Hello, mirror, so glad to see you my friend, it's been a while...

I've listened through it once, I really couldn't help myself, I promise I won't spoil it, but it is a very, very good album. And don't worry, OTBOA is the worst song on the album.

Monday can't come soon enough! (Even though I've pre-ordered it off amazon, might be thursday...)

And they've announced it!? Wow, I watched them in July they were on fire, I'll have to see them again! Looks like that's on my Christmas list! :--D

Edit: Just saw the tour dates, they're coming nowhere near my area. I'll probably go to the Manchester one though. :)

Yeh, SBTRKT

Breaking All Illusions is MINDBLOWING.
It's quite possibly the best thing to happen to 2011.

I'm also glad I didn't listen to anymore of the teasers for Bridges In The Sky, I think the bizarre noises at the start might have scared me off!

It's the bit at 4:22 that they used in the teaser trailer that still gets me, but the whole thing is just... the best thing since the Count!
If enough of this gets played in February (ideally without Lost Not Forgotten, which I'm taking longer to appreciate) then alas, it'll be worth my £50.

For now, I'm going to keep trying to get more than 2:30 into Beneath The Surface without cracking up...
Build Me Up, Break Me Down's a guilty pleasure as well - didn't know JP still had it in him to write lyrics like that, nor JLB to scream like that - that's the most I've identified with one of their tracks since Train of Thought.

I've listened through my CD 3 times in total now, and I'm happy to say my favourites are Bridges In The Sky (mainly because it reminds me of 6DOIT CD1), Outcry (for it's incredible instrumental and chorus) and of course Breaking All Illusions (with the Learning To Live thing going on!).

Really impressive album, I'd say it's their best album since Six Degrees for sure! There's no 'Rite Of Passage' or 'Constant Motion' to be found here, just a huge improvement both lyrically and musically. I'm disappointed with Mangini though, he definately hasn't shown his full potential on the disc.

Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn Of Events = 8.5/10

On a rather different genre here, I'm going to see these guys in November:

These guys are incredible, and the vocalist is completely nuts! It's like At The Drive-In on crack (if they wasn't insane enough), the albums a great listen too, I highly recommend!

If you're into the more intense music, this is definately worth a shot!

The most important hardcore album since 'Relationship Of Command'

LetLive - Fake History = 9/10

There's a band I've been in love with with for a long while now, and I don't know how they've remained under the radar so bloody long now, they're a fantastic band! And one band that I'll probably never see live because they seriously only exist in America (had to order the album from USA! Took 3 weeks!) They look so much fun live, seriously! Just watch this video to understand (it's one of them songs that truly takes off later in the song, so give it time)

Beautiful, progressive rock at it's most creative. Listen to 'Act II: The Meaning Of, And All Things Regarding Ms. Leading' now, and you'll understand what I'm going at here. There is an incredible emotional story to the album, about a boy born from a prostitute mother in which she dies at the beginning of Act II, and the boy goes on to fall in love with a prostitute himself... It's a deep album, clocking in at nearly 80 minutes, but the story just makes every minute worth it. I'm not going to say anything else, I just recommend you get this!

The Dear Hunter - Act II: The Meaning Of, And All Things Regarding Ms. Leading = 10/10

Hmm let's see...

Arguably the best song on a recently released album by one of my all-time favorite artists, Hecq :)

Hecq - "With Angels"

The album though, from what I've been reading, has an equal balance of both negative and positive reviews. So I wouldn't actually recommend the entire album, as it seems to be pretty average. Album seems "okay" to me, personally. It's not bad though. Anyway, that song though - whoa. Pretty cool...!

Tori Amos' new album - Night of Hunters.

I basically love pretty much everything this woman has ever done, but this one is really something else. She's gone all classical (each song is a variation on a classical track) and it's absolutely brilliant. Her daughter does guest vocals on a few tracks as well, which I cringed at when I read about. She's got a gorgeous voice though. The whole thing just works really well.

Motionless in White and Blessthefall is what I'm listening to at the moment. If you like these bands their doing a uk tour together at the end of october, which I'm going to the Oxford one. :)

Damn you!!! I don't have enough money!!!

^You'll hate me even more for these concert tickets I've got then. Can't wait actually; haven't seen her since 1998
