Magpie's nest in TP's Colossus supports

"We've got rid of a record-breaking, extremely-popular coaster that goes upside-down ten times, and is visually very impressive in order to give you a smaller, shorter ride that's not much to look at.

LAPBARS!!!!!"

Yeah, no.

If anything, they could put lapbars on Collossos (the newer models have them) for a hell of a lot less than removing and replacing the entire coaster, and still have the same (non)marketing point.

^^ Sarcasm, you apparently need lessons in it. Direly.

Would a refitting of the restraint system really help enough? Would they also be able to make it a large enough selling point to make them agree to the cost of buying new trains. Ontop of that, would the non-enthusiasts really be keen on going upside with a restraint system they've only seen on non-inverting rides.

It would be a nice step to see that happen, yet why haven't we seen an Intamin that already utilizes the OTSR system switch to the new lap-bars yet.

^ In my opinion, the idea of doing 10 inversions with only a lapbar holding me in is quite exciting, and I think the GP might (mostly) think the same.

Don't the public want thrills?

Yes, but visual safety is also a major concern to the public as well. How many modern rides in the UK feature a lapbar while also doing inversions? Its still rare in the US (8 modern day rides I can think of, with several more if I include Shwarzkopf made rides), with it slowly gaining momentum.

Bitch, I need lessons in sarcasm about as much as you need a Big Mac.

An idea: Since Colossus seems to be deteriorating and no longer holds the inversion record, maybe it could be sold and replaced with an Intamin mega lite. I hear that they are awesome and they aren't too tall so permission to build should be obtainable.

Replace it & "X" with this type of Mega Lite coaster which has just opened in France:

I don't think any park in the UK would build this type of coaster as it does produce loads of "airtime" which most of ours don't. Sort of Anti-Airtime country.

Just to confirm, the birds nest has definitely been removed/fallen out.
