Magpie's nest in TP's Colossus supports

Yeah can't remember seeing it today. Ha, the ride rattles so much I couldn't imagine it staying in place for long anyway!

Its not rougher than Infusion is it? Im going to be riding it in the summer along with all the other coasters for the first time.

Personally I found Infusion to be much worse, never really found Colossus to be ''that'' bad to be honest. It's not great but it's not walk-off-dizzy-with-a-mild-concussion-on-the-worlds-first-fully-suspended-over-water-and-painted-blue-in-the-greater-lancashire-area painful.

"dizzy with a mild concussion" is exactly how I felt after getting off as well! Its great to hear that Colossus isn't too rough because it looks like an fun, action packed layout.

^ Yeah, there is not much leg space there... And apart from the Cobra Roll, which is negotiated with barely bearable roughness, the coaster is quite ok in my opinion. :)

This may change your mind about being ok after I zoom'd into one of the pic's, see the score marks on the track where the arrows are:

Yes, I know. I never said that it's generally ok coaster, I meant it in comparison to Infusion. Generally, I think that it's still the worst coaster Thorpe Park has (yes, even worse than X).

I split my trousers on Colossus. Partly because I'm too tall, partly because I'm a fat bastard and had just spent a week eating like a slob in Denmark with CF the five days previous.

Those are not score marks. Intamin usually leave 1 - 3 white strips on the running rails where the wheels glide along. This is just the remains of that white where the wheels simply haven't worn it out. If they were score marks, do you really think ADIPS would let that ride pass its stringent safety checks?

You know it's worrying though when the GP make comments on how rough the ride is. I must admit it wasn't horrific on Tuesday, but it was ridiculously rattly, and there are numerous transitions that cause your head to rattle against the restraints. I can't understand why Thorpe don't do anything about it, it's only getting worse by the year! Is it something to do with the wheels, the trains, the restraints or the track? Because to me it kinda looks like a mixture of all of them.

An idea: Since Colossus seems to be deteriorating and no longer holds the inversion record, maybe it could be sold and replaced with an Intamin mega lite. I hear that they are awesome and they aren't too tall so permission to build should be obtainable.

Bollocks.

I'm almost 6'5" and there's plenty of room.
Are you really that tall? A whole foot taller than me? Christ.

It's not just height though. It's comparative length of legs and torso, shoulder width and thickness, etc. You know this.

I find with the rides I've worked with that you can NEVER eyeball who will have issues. It depends on people's flexibility too, or ability to use their brain to work out how to manoeuvre themselves. And oftentimes people would claim they aren't going to fit when I'm convinced they will, and by getting them to sit with their knees tilted just a tiny bit one way or a foot just a tiny bit this way, they magically fit.

In short, clearly you're not big where it matters on Colossus and have a brain, I guess.

As much as Colossus IS Thorpe Park for me, I would just love to see a Megalite in the UK. Not going to happen though. Megalites look small and boring, even though they aren't. I doubt Thorpe would think it marketable.

^ Imagine it from a marketing perspective: "Let's advertise a roller coaster that is smaller, slower, and shorter and made by the same company!"

Yeah, Colossus isn't going anywhere.
