What is better/more thrilling. Mack Launches, which are known for their slow acceleration and are considered more of a push than a launch. Or the classical lift hills like on a B&M giga with the iconic *clanks* and terrifying feeling of staring down the drop as the mechanism pulls you over the drop.

The Mack launches are practical from a ‘restricted space’ perspective but, so long as it isn’t a ‘Steel Curtain’-like slog to the top, accelerating via a descent is always going to be more fun.

I think it really depends but overall I'd have to go with a lift hill. Ain't nothing getting a great view while climbing up a lift. First drop also is a nice bonus.

Just comparing the feeling of the two elements, the launches you get on something like Copperhead and Helix aren't as exciting as a punchy drop like Fonix or Lightning Run. Taken out of context, the drop wins.

Thing is, Mack launches are more function over substance, and lift hills don't really make sense when considering the ride as a cohesive layout (though perhaps the Blue Fire clones could work with a nice lift/drop into the overbank). Instead, they should just crank up the acceleration and make the elements feel like they actually belong, rather than a transition to get from Point A to B.

I second that.

Completely agree

In all fairness, Blue Fire's launch is actually fairly punchy.
Ride to Happiness also has a great launch, AND offers the best of both worlds with a fantastic drop off that top hat too. Most of the time though I really enjoy the tension added with a lifthill and the excitement of a killer first drop, especially when you're comparing experiencing that over most mack launches out there.
