If you've not seen Valley Mania yet - http://www.valleymania.co.uk - they've confirmed that LWV is getting a tractor ride next year.

It's another relocation from Loudoun Castle. (What's the betting that somebody starts calling the park Louwater Valley soon?).

McDougal's Tractor Ride, as it was once called, is to be situated on the former site of Hornets Nest. It will form a new area in the park.

There is also another themed area planned for next year. Valley Mania can't reveal it. When Nic and I visited in early April, we were told what it could possibly be, but unfortunately, we're also sworn to secrecy.

So after years of having no actual theme, this year LWV got Skeleton Cove and next year it's getting two new themed areas. Marvellous. I wonder if they'll get the Porn Ponies from Loudoun as well?

I have to admit that I'm not fussed about the tractor ride, but I am very interested in the new areas. Skeleton Cove looked great a week before opening so I've got high hopes.

It's great news that Lightwater are still keeping up this new flow of investment. I really hope it pays off for them too. I'm intrigued as to what the other area that they're creating is but I hope it brings new, decent, rides to the park.

When you say another themed area, do you mean another theme following on from Pirates Cove or whatever its called, or another theme as well as the blatant farmyard theme?!

It's actually going to be Pirate Farmers. Let's face it, there's not much difference between the accents and it's just sheep instead of sharks.

They had some bits of pirate theming left over4, a new tractor ride and half a ton of bailed hay. Why not? ;)

It will be good if it features animals, which I would expect it to. It's also true to their roots.

An inverting rollercoaster is essential under this five-year plan though.

I disagree with that to some extent.

Chessington manages perfectly well without an inverting coaster. Ok, so they are different kettle of fish with a £multi-billion company behind them, but an inverting coaster isn't 100% necessary at LWV. If they got one, I can see it being a Vekoma SLC which is pointless as nearby FL has one.

I do agree they need a new big coaster, but it has to be something unique, thrilling and suitable for the family market. I'd rather see a launch coaster there, something like Anubis at Plopsaland.

Having said that, I'm pretty sure that Loudoun Castle has a looping coaster up for sale...

Great news, though I would rather they put 100% into one themed area for next year, instead of the 2. Dont get me wrong, they could still be good, just not as good as they could have been.

So what connection can we find with a Tractor ride and an Afterburner?

Only just notcied this. The suggested farmyard area will be one new area and there will be another, bringing LWV's themed areas to three (Farmyard, Skeleton Cove and Can'tSayWhat).

How they going to theme an Afterburner to a farmyard area?!

AndI've always thought they could make a nice little themed area by Eagles Claw, much more sensible them doing that than sticking another thrill ride up there. Any idea if it will actually contain animals?

The farmyard area is new to me. I didn't even know that the tractor ride was coming. I'm only a bit more clued up on the other CantSayWhat area.

[lame joke] I reckon it's a 'See/Hear/Speak No Evil' themed area. [/lame joke]

;)

If they theme is half as well as they themed Pirate Cove, then bring it on, that was really really decent for a park like LWV, really quite excited.

I don't really care if the rides aren't for me, theming is <3

I'll give you 1.20 (decimal odds) on Skate Karts going next year and 1.01 on them being gone by the end of this five-year plan.

Ian, I think you're right about it not being essentially inverting, but I think the results of one of their surveys lead to it being the most popular option, so not so sure on how they'd pursue it. They're certainly more marketable/photographable, though.

A park that Ash considers something of a role model for the park...

Is a looper essential. No. Would it be nice, of course it would. The reality is this though, even an aged on like T&S would, unless leased cost upwards of a million pounds, and frankly the park could do with boosting the rest of its portfolio better, and make the rides they do have flow more logically. I'd like to see big rides, but suspect the biggest we can hope for is Goldrush from Loundoun, and a rash of smaller decent filler rides, such as the flume, rodeo, crows nest, milk churn, bought for the kind of loose change that Alton themes it's bogs with.

In the scheme of things, two themed areas, whatever they contain, is manna from heaven.

I wouldn't like to see too many more things from Loudon, there is a reason why the place collapsed.

I don't think we will actually see something like ten of their rides at Lightwater Valley, though.

Yeah Henk said it - it was down to the weather and the Scottish economy!

I don't really care how many or how few rides the park acquire, as long as what the park acquires is within a reasonable budget, and betters the park's portfolio. the areas could actually have very little new in them, as long as they are well themed, and better utilise overlooked rides such as the Trauma Tower and Ladybird.

If I was a betting man, I'd say Flume, Goldrush, Rodeo, Milkchurn and Crows nest, possibly with the drunken barrels and mini dodgems thrown in for good measure. Can't imagine the net spend on those being more than a million, but would add something, if done right to the park's portfolio.

What hapenned to rumours of Twist n' Shout possibly moving to LWV? I thought it could be quite a good move for the park but haven't heard anything more about it. If it is going to happen, leaving it to rot for another season probably isn't the best idea.
