Legoland Denmark | Polar X-plorer | Zierer with drop section

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

According to Wikipedia, Merlin (well, Blackstone) bought a 70% stake in the 4 original parks in 2005, with Lego retaining the remaining 30% share. How that's changed since then, I have no idea. I'm pretty sure that Legoland Windsor didn't come under the scope of the Merlin Annual Pass until, what, 2008? Therefore, there was clearly a fairly lengthy transition period, but how that impacted upon Billund, I don't know.

Edit: Just read an article from June this year saying that Merlin is owned by the following organisations:

Blackstone: 34%
CVC Capital Partners: 28%
KIRKBI: 36%
No idea who owns the other 2%?

Anyway, the point is that KIRKBI is a Danish family trust who also own Lego - therefore, they actually have the largest stake in Merlin. Well, you learn something new every day!

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

Oh dear, but lets hope it blow's th13teen out of the water with a much better layout, which I think it has. The track doesn't look very much like Intamin or Zierer, or perhaps intamin are going for their stand-up (B7M style) track....

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

Loving the prospect on an untrimmed pre-drop section...

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

Let's hope this is pretty well themed and has a good layout - Everything Th13teen is NOT.

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

Oh wow! So, I wonder if it will be Intamin...? Given the existence of Verbolten, it's not too far a stretch of the imagination to suggest this could be made by... well, anyone.

Surprised regardless. Was not expecting. Wouldn't surprise me if it launches though with a theme like that...

And how funny that I wrote a blog abou trick track yesterday. Hahaha.

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

Did someone say concept art?

It will also feature a slide and PENGUINS! This ride is made of win already...

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

Oh! So that's where they'll have it. On the far side of the City area at the very back of the park. I thought just getting to X-treme Racers was an exercise in orienteering, but finding this should be a different challenge altogether.
(That's the Roboarm building right behind it. That area has been rethemed quite a few times. Let's hope this ride will settle it).

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

^It reminds me more of Mammut than Everest... Like, it reminds me loads of Mammut. Not that I've been on Mammut but, you know...

This looks pretty fab actually <3 I do hope more parks do the drop sections, and do them so much better than Alton just out of spite <3

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

^Yes I also thought Mammut... But the whole mountain in the middle does also scream Everest...

Mammut is nicely themed as well, so high hopes indeed...

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

^The big problem with Mammut is it's intensity (and yes I have been on it), which to me spoils the whole ride. As shaky as a 90-year old vekoma!

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

Mammut... Intense...

No no no no no... Barely rickety in comparison to the awfulness of L'Odanse Volante, but this is a different topic...

We are talking about the LOOK and THEME of the ride... Not HOW it will ride...

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

The guy in the front right definitely has the wrong expression.

Re: New Coaster for Legoland Denmark

imo, this is just another coaster that will be good and fun but they still again alike verbolten should have gone with Intamin.
