Last year was a Gerstlauer Launch Coaster à la Anubis planned. This attraction is not built for unknown reasons. In recent days, people started digging, that the rumors of a new back and talked Launch Coaster

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

I believe this. I really, really hope it's one of those because there are several Merlin parks these would clearly be awesome at.

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

This might sound ridiculous, but as far as rumours go, how believable is this one?

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

Ok, if this happens this is another park going on my 'need to visit in 2012' list. I'm intrigued to see how they theme it too and if it'll have inversions like Anubis.

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

I'm assuming that this Legoland is owned by Merlin too? If so, massively excited to see they've taken an interest in this coaster type, perhaps we'll see something similar pop up over here?

Fab to see more of these being built though, they really are amazing fun.

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

^ You assume correctly. Merlin owns all Legoland parks.

I heard about this from ECC (back in 2008 I think), and I think that the info about it came from Gerstlauer at IAAPA. It may just be that they have battled for a while to get the permissions to add the ride and planned the whole area around it...
So hopefully this is it!!

Will be strange to see two very similar rides so close to eachother since Fårup Sommerland have one...

Posting on the go...

I wholeheartedly agree!

I don't really know anything about Legoland Denmark. What kind of rides do they have? What is its target audience? I've always thought that Windsor's pre-school/infants market was artificially enforced due to its proximity to Thorpe and Chessington. Is that the case, or is that just the market they're aiming at worldwide?

What I'm trying to say is that, as awesome as it'd be to have one, this just wouldn't fit the ride portfolio at Windsor. Will it fit in at Denmark?

QTF. This. Like. +1. Or whatever other term lazy people use to agree with something.

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

It is weird to see a Lego park build this sort of ride, especially as it would essentially be the biggest attraction in all of them...

Nic, looking at the website, it's a typical ride affair, essentially the same type of rides as Windsor, but probably a lot different (as River Splash has an epic looking lift and drop)...

I need to go to Scandinavia...

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

If legoland is getting one and is run by merlin, could this mean they made a deal for chessington to get one in 2013/14

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

^ Well, it doesn't mean that at all, BUT, that would be great. An Anubis clone would just be awsome!

What makes you say that? It is partly wishful thinking, but to suggest that Merlin have done a deal with Gerstlauer for more than one of these is perfectly plausible. They blatantly swung a deal with B&M for Raptor/Krake/Swarm/(Alton's 2013). Big chains do it all the time, so why is it so impossible to believe that they'd have done it here?

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

^Yeah, Stealth/Rita, Fury/Spinball... There's loads of examples of multiple sales.

The only thing that makes it unlikely is the laughable concept that Chessington will do anything worth while.

Or Legoland in the UK.

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

Why did I have it in my head that the Denmark one wasn't operated by Merlin but was operated by Lego themselves? Am I thinking of somewhere else.

In terms of seeing the coasters at other parks I would probably fall on the side of quite possible. On top of what Nic has already said, If you look at the number of duplicated rides across the Lego parks, including coasters, it would seem quite possible that they also get a similar theme and/or coaster in other parks. What might stop Legoland Windsor having one is the local public issue which was part of the reason for the removal of the Wild Mouse thing...

I think it is more likely for Legoland Windsor than Chessington although, when we did the Wild Asia meeting early on in the project I distinctly remember us trying to impress how good an addition a Gerstlauer Launched Coaster would be for Chessie so you never know.

I never said it wasn't plausible and I definitely never said it was impossible. I just said that this 'news doesn't mean they HAVE bought one for Chessington for 2013/14.

My dad's got that in is head as well but I am pretty sure it is owned by Merlin. I think the reason you thought Legoland Denmark was owned by Lego is because Lego's made in Denmark.

Possibly yeah. I am sure at one point there was one of the parks that Merlin had no control over. Of course this could have changed over time but its the back of my mind somewhere. It is defo run by Merlin now though...

Re: Gerstlauer Launch Coaster for Legoland Denmark (rumour)

Apparently this is supposed to be costing €10m, and an announcement is being made on Wednesday.

Seems to have got quite complicated, and of course the Denmark Legoland was around for years before Merlin existed. It seems that rather than run one park with Merlin running the others Lego own a chunk of Merlin who now run them all. (I think!)
