Kingda Ka and Green Lantern's removal for new 2026 record-breaking coaster

Another good picture of the remains;

Let us not forget Zumanjaro (collateral damage) lying in ruins too :(

Bravo @ECG , gave me a good chuckle!

I don’t know how these things work but for some reason I thought it would just kinda collapse on itself, didn’t expect the whole thing to fall over like that. Imagine driving past at that moment if you didn’t realise that was happening today.

Glad I got to ride it once at least!

With the implosion on a Friday... I couldn't resist, even if it pisses people off. :p

It's amazing how it just sort of shattered when it hit the ground.
The King(da) is dead, long live the Falcon I guess.
Yeah, it almost looks like it was made of matchsticks! I was expecting some mass of twisted metal, but it all seemed to come apart into individual pieces.
The connections between the elements are the weak links, after all. When two pieces of track hit the ground together, the force is more likely to tear off the bolts that connect them, than the solid steel tubes they are assembled from. Same with supports held together with bolted flanges, or any welded seams. The bolts (or the bolt holes) fail before the rest of the material does, and the elements appear to come apart intact along their connections. I bet the elements are banged badly out of shape when seen up close, though. The bolts and welds breaking wouldn't absorb all the force of the impact, after all.

It’s utterly ludicrous to watch something so big and dominant just casually fall over like a deck of cards… I knew that the implosion would be a unique coaster demolition, but that was such a strange watch!

Really rather sad to see such an iconic landmark come crashing down like that. I had a significant connection and a whole lot of love for that ride, more so than most other thoosies. I even Top 10'ed it again after reriding it last June.
In fact, here's a snippet of my post from the 'Last Cred Review' thread:

Howie said:
"If you haven't ridden it yet, my advice would be to get yourself out there while you still have the chance. We don't know how long it will be before they either retire it or convert it into something else. Once that happens, we may never see anything quite like it again."

It's all my fault. Jinxed it. 😭😭
But seriously, I kinda suspected that it's days were somewhat numbered, but I had no idea that it would be blown up in less than a year.
Bet y'all wish you'd taken my advice now, huh?

^^^ blimey - feel the heat. Coaster enthusiasts are a curiously passionate yet violently begrudging collective! 🧐😰 - it’s why I feel so at home 🤗

I can foresee it as an entry in ‘e-books’ / ‘digital mind-implants’ in the far and distant future:

28 February 2025 a.k.a. “The Last Straw”: the notorious day that global relations were dramatically reshaped, leading to WW3, as a result of SFGA demolishing Ka and not acknowledging it on insta.”
