How much does it cost to re-paint a coaster?

I know it'd change depending on the size of the coaster etc. But parks don't often bother to repaint the rides once the colour has faded and I was wondering if it was due to the cost of it just to make it look new again.

So roughly how much does it cost to re-paint a coaster?
 
I'll do it for £100 and unlimited cups of tea.

Um, I have no idea. Couple of grand?
 
No idea, but when they moved Traumatizer from Southport to Blackpool, they repainted it using a "powder coasting" system.

The company they used is on the Wirral, and we use the same firm to paint our metal window systems here.

So while the coaster was in bits, they took each section in to be painted.

Erm, no idea how much it cost though. Obviously cheaper to do like that than when erected though.
 
I heard they get chavs who are caught vandalising in the park to repaint coasters that need doing with tins of dulux and small paintbrushes.
 
I would say tens of thousands of pounds doing it in situ. You have several coats to go through and it would require rope access personell etc. Still a worthwhile investment for some ageing coasters though, I think.
 
I dont think it would always cost that much. I mean Fantasy Island repainted the Millennium coaster, but they only done that when the park was closed, they just used a cherry picker, their maintenance team, and most probably some tins of paint.

If they're already paying the maintenance staff to be there, I wouldn't really add their wages to the cost of repainting it. So that leaves the cost of the cherry picker (which they probably own) and the paint.

And I'd guess with how long it took Drayton to repaint Shockwave, that they probably done it a similar way, just with a very small paint brush.
 
^Whilst this is true, the paint isn't normal paint and you'd need a hell of a lot of it. I would say you could need thousands of 'standard' tins of paint to completely repaint a full ride, and they're not going to be that cheap either.

Doesn't seem unreasonable to say more than £10000 (and that's only £10 a tin).
 
^Depends how **** it looks when you decide to repaint it. Also, if you chose to re-do the supports too... it all adds up.
