Harry Potter Expansion - Universal Orlando

They could make tons of money off that upgrade idea. I just hope they don't make you buy 1 ticket for both parks. I liked the idea of having a choice of what park I would like to go too. IOA is way better that USF. Still if they pull it of it'll be a major money maker for them. "You've seen this part of Harry Potter, but your missing out on the other side." Charging more for the complete experience is real smart, and also kind of annoying :/

^But, it does appeal to the thousands of Potter maniacs, and the fanbase are ridiculous, they'll literally buy anything. This is also the reason why everything sold in Potterland is so damn expensive!

Agree with Jordan the stuff they sold was so over priced it stopped us buying stuff.

I hate to think what a family of 4 spend, each robe is $100.

$10 for a chocolate frog </3

For 1 :O, or for a box? Ugh Universal was so smart to pick up on this franchise. I can't think of any other that would sell to this wide of a market. I mean, maybe Star Wars...but still this covers full families.

Still got one sat in my fridge for some reason from when Benin's parents went. The only nice thing was that it is a solid chocolate frog rather than like an easter egg.

Indeed, they are pretty solid slabs of really nice chocolate. I thoroughly enjoyed mine, even it nearly broke me.

Can't wait for them to reveal a bit more of the plans this, coz im a big Harry Fanboy!

It makes me wonder, if the whole train thing will be the case, if Universal would consider a Potter only ticket? I mean, tons and tons of people want the Harry Potter experience but may not be that into the other rides. I know for a fact there must be a lot of guests already who only go to IoA for Potter.

I know it's all good for moneymaking and stuff, but it does make me feel sorry for the rest of the parts of the parks, it seems like they're all going to be lost in the shadow of Potter.

Like I keep saying, it should have been a completely separate project from the offset.

No. The Potter bits are each in the back of the respective parks. they'd need 5 or 6 new sets of gates if they sold Potter only tickets. (Imagine trying to sell tickets that only included Fantasyland at MK and Japan at Epcot. While not an exactly similar suggestion, it's just as far fetched.)

I think the best way to look at the train is to see it like the system at WDW, it is just a transport system between the 2 parks to save people walking all the way round like they have to now.

I loved the Jaws ride, it was funny and it was a laugh. I hate Potter, despise it. And if were seeing Potterland now, give it 10/15 years... Twilight... The Experience...

^ Unlikely... Certainly not of the scale of whole 'lands' themed to it to such a successful extent. Twilight has been no where near as big as Harry Potter. It might have singular attractions but I can't imagine a whole area for it.

“Harry Potter is about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend.”
― Stephen King

...and that's all I have to say about that. (To quote Forrest Gump, now that I think about it.)

Yes, I know that, but the Potter land in IoA was incredibly difficult to get to as the area bottlenecks right down and the crowds are unbearable. Adding this again to the studios just makes me wonder if they'll experience similar crowd problems and if so, what they intend to introduce to combat this. It is also curious to me that they would spread one land over two parks.

I dislike where this is seemingly going: You can see Potterland, oh, and here are some other attractions for when you get bored of Potter.

I think it is a mistake.

Basically, the way I predict it, is that the train is effectively just a shuttle between the two parks. Of course it will probably be a blooming well themed one, but its a shuttle nonetheless. It will operate no differently to how the monorails and so on at WDW and Alton Towers for instance (except for a fee perhaps)

Passengers will pass through a turnstile, scanning their ticket (or having it checked by a themed costume character) and they will board on one side of the train. Whilst people are being batched ready to get on the train passengers coming in will exit on the other side. The train leaves and basically it is a case of repeat and rinse.

I also think that in order to do both sections of the Harry Potter stuff you will definately need a hopper ticket or an add-on (which will probably be available to buy at either station). You are effectively visiting both parks, so should have a ticket for both and that is exactly what Universal want you to do - that way they make more money!

If that is the case then I imagine you will only be able to take the train journey if you have the park hopper ticket. I don't think this train/shuttle service will be available to those holding a 1-park ticket.

Being totally honest, it does sound like they are basically railroading (pardon the pun) the customers into buying a 2-Park ticket BUT as a buisness strategy I think it is genius purely based on the number of people that will want to do all of the Harry Potter stuff at the same time.

Still, nothing is confirmed as of yet, so will have to wait and see.
