I couldn't care less what the meaning of either phrase is, I just hate the fact that "Happy Holidays" sounds so **** American. If I wanted to read **** like that, I'd go and join TPR.

Wasn't aware this was a strictly British forum. Must have missed that memo. I'll be sure to adjust my slang accordingly.

LOL! Just use the term bugger a lot and you'll be there...

I have wanted to post this somewhere for a while but had no idea where to do so!

Me likey very muchy the christmasy coasterforce...y. I especially like the snow which moves along with the cursor <3.

So yeah, I wish you all a very merry and peaceful christmas and a safe, happy and healthy new year. I am looking forward to coming on more lives next year, thank you to all of you for making me feel so welcomed this year! The Swarm D-Day was brilliant, as was Ghosterforce. Thanks again!

They have, just not here. Your nightmares are my present to everyone! Happy Christmas to one and all ;)

Re: Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays DOES make more sense.

What doesn't is that a Christian nation like the USA prefers a secular term, whilst Brits get up in arms about it.

Re: Happy Holidays!

^It's the reasoning behind it though.

Brits see it as a PC thing, in that saying "Happy Holidays" is a way of not offending anyone, and if it were said in this country, then that would be true.

Americans use it an overarching term to include Thanksgiving and other random ****, rather than as the "don't want to offend the Muslims" phrase that we might look at it as.

I'm pretty sure we should just call it A Fun Time of the Year. You know, make everyone happy.

Re: Happy Holidays!

It's Merry Christmas. Political Correctness can go **** itself 9 times out of 10.

Re: Happy Holidays!

I'm soon going out for some Christmas Eve drinks with my work colleagues before going home for more Christmas Eve drinks with people I don't have to pretend to like :) Although they pretend to like me!

I want to wish all of you a very happy Christmas! I hope Father Christmas brings you everything you asked for and you enjoy spending time with your family. I'm lucky to have a large family so I really enjoy meeting up with my relatives that I don't see often enough. I'm cooking Christmas dinner for my Dad and brother, which I'm actually looking forward to!

Several significant things have happened in my personal life since last Christmas. Some have been upsetting but the vast majority have been positive and character building. I'm certainly in a more settled, comfortable, happier place than I was this time last year so I intend to appreciate this Christmas break more than ever.

Whatever you're doing - even if you don't celebrate Christmas - I hope the next few days are restful. Many thanks for supporting CoasterForce over the last year, even while we've had these gaudy, but fabulous, forum decorations!

I'll be checking this topic to see who was spoiled and whose parents clearly don't love them ;) As long as I get a few bottles of wine, I'm a happy man.

Merry Christmas, CoasterForce!

Merry Christmas peeps!

I did our family tradition of visiting my Mum's Aunt and Uncle and a distant relative the other day. I always enjoy seeing them and it always makes me get into the Christmas spirit. We really should see them more than once a year but I don't think it'd be as special to see them if we did it more regularly.

I was at work today, got to watch a turd film and then left at 12:30 which was amazing (my normal working day finishes at 7:30pm) <3

Hope everyone has a fantastic day tomorrow :D

God Jul everybody!

Yeah, we still call it Jul (modernized "Yule") over here. Religiously neutral terms for the win!

(And before you point it out, "god" means "good" in Norwegian. May also mean "well", "happy" and the like).

I have to send 'Happy Holiday' messages instead of 'Merry Christmas' to my American clients at work - but I was always under the impression it was because 'merry' implies drinking - which is not in the Christmas spirit (although booze is very much a tradition/a major part of Christmas for many of us in the UK!)

Anyway - however you spent the last two days, I hope that everyone had a lovely time.
I myself spent it at home, not once going outside on the big day due to the RAIN, extending my stomach to hideous proportions on the settee, and crying my eyes out to the Snowdog :D
