GCI 'Big Fun' Compact Woodie

Would be perfect at Alton but as said above, noise levels would be a concern. However I could imagine it in The Flumes place maybe? Other than that, weren't Drayton meant to be getting a wooden coaster? :?

^Yep, I'm sure this would fit really well at DM, as it seems to fit the DM target market quite well! Could it go the area around where the buffalo coaster is? I think so...

The price tag sounds great and perhaps we'll get some celebs building clones of this in their back gardens...

^If I was a millionaire I'd so do that! And if the council is like 'It's gonna p*ss the neighbours off' I'll just give all my neighbours a million and tell them to shut up.

It'd be perfect for Drayton, another family thrill ride like this!

There were rumours that DMP were in talks with the Gravity Group about building a woodie, but rumours are all these were, albeit from a reliable source.

To me it doesn't make sense, GG are notably the more expensive option in Europe, Twister at Grona Lund cost something like 6 Million Euros for a coaster that on holds 1500ft worth of track, I understand that its a Hybrid and had to be designed to fit into an awkward space but it's still 6 Million Euros, Compared to Troy which boasts 3500ft of track for a similar cost.

The 'Big Fun' compact woodie fits perfect in my eyes, its well within DMP's budget even if it does cost up to 5 Million GBP. The site on and around the Buffalo coaster is ideal and away from residential area's, And Colin Bryan always talks up his ideas on getting a woodie.

can fit on a site the size of two standrad wild mouse coasters
Rip out the reamining one, and there's the perfect plot at Bobbiejobbie. Might actually make it worth re-visiting the park. Actually, on second thoughts...

Regarding the cost, you can't underestimate the cost of transport and labour. As this is pre-fab, the shipping would probably be quite a bit. It's a crap example, but don't forget that it was cheaper for LWV to buy a 2nd hand pirate ship than it was to move their existing one a couple of hundred yards.

I'd love to see one of these in the UK, and there's plenty of smaller parks it'd suit perfectly, but I'm doubtful it'll happen. Not any time soon anyway.

I still think people are over-estimating the impact this will have.

Just because they've produced a layout that fits the cheap, small space specification, doesn't mean parks are instantly just going to buy one now. If parks had wanted a cheap, small Woodie, they could have gone to GCI before and asked for one. A park that wasn't going to get a woodie like this ANYWAY are highly unlikely just to turn around and get one now. We might see maybe one pop up. If we're lucky. The idea that now Draytes will be getting a woodie just because this is out is silly.

GCI recently posted this on their facebook page:

For those of you interested in our "Big Fun" compact coaster, here is the flyer we had at IAAPA.

Looks like it only has 1 train. :( This might have capacity issues. Which is perfect for DM because all of their coasters only have one train too...

... except that one which has two trains.

Maybe Flamingoland will get one to replace their Vekoma it would fit well in that space.

Not really a great layout though but good for a family coaster.

Small footprint, affordable, and lengthy. I can see this fitting into many parks (especially growing ones). I think it works for a large range of visitors and would be good to attract families as well as enthusiasts looking to grab a cred with a decently thrilling coaster for what it is.
