I know Oblivion was the first dive machine but it goes 87.5 degrees.. i think

So to be picky, what was the first coaster to ever go 90 degrees (vertical)?

What about the Togo Ultra Twisters?

They go vertical don't they and the earliest opening I can find was in 1985.

Vertical lift, yes. The drop is at 85 degrees.
