Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - [A map can't save you in this fores

Looks great. I just want to see a FULL pov now.

Seriously, it's AMAZING. Ha!

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - [A map can't save you in this fores

Sorry I will have a download and POV video soon, i've been busy and I need to do some final tweaking :)

But, I have been working on another coaster for a while. It will be a B&M Hyper, about 170ft high with, i'd say 5 airtime hills. I have been inspired by Shambhala and other hypers. Here's some pictures!

Coming out of the station...

The 170ft first drop...

Plus another shot of the drop...

Which leads into...

An airtime hill...

And that leads into a funky turnaround I made, kind of like the ampersand on Shambhala...

Another view of the turnaround, which makes the shaping look odd :/

Out of the turnaround...

Into, you guessed it, another airtime hill...

That's all I have got so far. I will upload the other coaster on this topic soon, along with a POV!

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - B&M Hyper

**** that's one steep airtime hill.

Also, that's not a hyper ;)

Mega up to 200ft (although this is my opinion).
Hyper 200-299ft.
Giga 300-399ft.
Strata 400-499ft.

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - B&M Hyper

Yeah I will redesign the airtime hills. Plus, Apollo's Chariot is 170ft and that is classified as a Hyper, so... :)

I know it's really a mega coaster but for the sake of it i'm calling it a hyper!

Mmm... not sure...

I think a hyper coaster is defined more by the style of ride (ie. big hills, airtime, speed) than simply height. Is Apollo's Chariot a hyper coaster? Of course it is... oh wait... it's only 170ft tall. It's pretty much the same as any other 200ft+ B&M coaster. The hyper/giga/strata labels are definitely more of a guideline or system made up by enthusiasts than anything that actually means anything.

It's even called a Hyper Coaster by B&M: http://www.bolliger-mabillard.com/produ ... er_en.aspx

(I know you know this really. ;) )

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - B&M Hyper

The hyper coaster above has been cancelled because after designing multiple layouts, it felt the same as any other hyper, so I ditched the idea.

Good news at last! Kigahara is now up for download!

However, the fantastic tunnel which JAMMYD778 made for me doesn't quite fit onto the coaster in a way I think will look best. So I may release a second version of the coaster once I have made some adjustments. Thanks again to hi, anyhow.

On to the coaster,

Feel free to rate and everything, hope you all like it! Do note, the coaster is very short and is aimed at families.

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - Kigahara [Download Page 3]

I really enjoyed this. Fun little coaster with the launches, nice pacing, and can imagine it riding really well in real life.

Very smooth, and the layout didn't lose interest.

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - Kigahara [Download Page 3]

I really loved it. It was great. Although, I did get a face of twigs.... Be careful with your tree placing, apart from that, it was fantastic.

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - Kigahara [Download Page 3]

I liked this. It was smooth and fun and well made. My only criticism was that it didn't really do enough. It felt like if it's been a bit longer and possibly had a few more funky elements (like that overbanked hill thing) then it would've been spot on.

Felt like a smaller version of Cheetah Hunt. Nice work!

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - Kigahara [Download Page 3]

Just for the record, Apollo's Chariot has a drop over 200 feet, which is why it's classified a hyper coaster.

The hyper has awesome colors, but as already mentioned, the hills look way too skinny.

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - Kigahara [Download Page 3]

Ok, well I really want to do a Hyper! So i've done a layout, any thoughts? Not sure if it's too boring, short, or whatever...

Here's the lift and the first part of the layout...

More of the layout...

And the final element... plus the rest of the coaster!

FH9fk.jpg

It's 148ft high, because I wanted it to be suitable for smaller parks with families. I was thinking the lower height would make it more appealing.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - Kigahara [Download Page 3]

Looks pretty interesting. I like the layout, and the smaller height could be fun.

Re: Ethan's Dev Topic - Kigahara [Download Page 3]

Hmmm ... Hyper-lite :D
Your overbanked turns look good, and I can feel the airtime in your layout !
