What's new

Does the UK need a new Theme park?

A 45-minute queue for a coaster that can clear its entire queue line in about an hour is hardly "not busy".

I dont think we need a new one, but I fear we will loose another unless some major investor helps out at Pleasure Island.

Their current ride line-up doesn't inspire me to visit the park, it's one of the nearest parks to where I live but I haven't been for around 10 years. IMO they bought too many spinning thrill rides, although I used to love going on Alakazam, infact i'm not sure why Huss didn't manage to sell more of that ride type.

^Perhaps because they're absolutely VILE contraptions.

I'd say yes, the UK does need a new theme park. The South West is probably the only area of the country which is lacking when it comes to rides and attractions, so it would make sense to build a theme park in the area.

You think so? As I said I haven't been there for years, but I seem to remember enjoying it more than a standard Enterprise, then again, I used to ride the Boomerang over and over again so maybe my head was mashed.

^I've only been on one of them (not the one at Pleasure Island, but I imagine they're all the same), and it made me feel really ill, which generally doesn't happen to me on rides. It basically ruined the next couple of hours at the park for me.

It's also an opinion shared by pretty much everyone else ever that they're disgusting, so, I think it's just you tbh.

No the UK doesn't need a new Theme Park, yes Huss Flyaways are repulsive.

Problems solved!

Bad times, that happened with me after riding the Afterburner at LWV, I couldn't even force myself onto the Wave Swinger afterwards. I could go back to see if my opinion has changed, but i'm pretty sure the park as a whole won't be worth the cost of petrol.

Wow, my 10 year old self must have been a complete wierdo then . . .

Alakazam is two of the most unpleasant minutes I've ever spent at a theme park.

Awful, uncomfortable, couldn't wait to get off. Horrid ride.

I dont think England needs another Theme park but Scotland and Northern Ireland could do with a world class attraction.

If I was to build another park in England though there is one particular area that I think could be explored and used to good effect. "The English Riviera" / Torquay or Exmouth. They are very large tourist hot spots for all types of holiday maker. Grandparents love it and would bring grand children, Torquay and Exeter are fast becoming 18-30 hot spots as well. Excellent summer trade plus Somerset is within catchment area. You could build a decent coastal attraction with a more quality feel than blackpool and a better climate. Also if you wanted a proper Theme park the Arthur / Camelot legends are based in the area of Devon / Cornwall and I think a big company could use it to great advantage. Plenty of potential.

I think a big park close to London would do well (Or if they just massively expanded Thorpe) - I mean, it is the most visited city in the world, so there must be some demand

Thorpe Park, Chessington, Legoland... Merlin have London taken care of.

Thorpe can't be expanded, they have filled in as much of the lake as possible, but don't be mistaken, they have room to play with and seem to be the biggest growing UK park at the moment. CWOA and Legoland do just fine with their target audience.

The only chance of seeing another park in/around london would be on the Olympic site, but i can't see that happeneing.

I honestly can't see a new theme park of a decent size being built anytime soon, The country's **** ed, and the last thing anybody want's to do is throw £300 million at something that's not guarenteed to be a success.

I find it absolutely f***ing ridiculous how they get the Harry Potter park, and we get nothing at all...From a British creation, What the hell is wrong??

^Nothing.

Universal has the money to build it and the target audience to visit it. Simple as that.

I personally think that it's North Wales that needs a new park. There's hardly anything here and there is the perfect location for a 320ft giga and drop tower that shouoldn't need much planning permission.

Now just to sit and wait for Padeswood cement factory to close and me to buy it....

Yeah, I'm sure the fact loads of it is a mountainous national park would make it way easier to build a Giga coaster.

I wasn't thinking Snowdonia. There's a cement factory near me with a 320ftish tall kiln which I could build a giga up and put a Mystery Castle style drop tower inside it. If I owned it, that is.

Your comment proves my point that when people think of Wales, they think of South Wales and when thinking about North Wales, It's Snowdonia/ North East they think of. It's hardly ever North West.
