What's new

Djurs Sommerland 2015

That art style looks amazing. Looks like it's going to be a really nice kiddie area. Ride selection seems a bit Plopsa-ish to me. Zierer Force II, those fab little drop towers, the roundabout thing with ducks, etc.

The foundations for the new coaster is taking form.

That is a lot of foundations for a small coaster! IT gives quite a good indication how tight the little thing will be. I <3 Djurs.

The awkward moment when the trains of your family coaster appear to feature cross species ****...

^Non-consensual too by the looks of it.

This shall from this day forth be known as the Rapey Fox coaster.

Looks amazing. So ridiculous, I love it <3

They've really got the humour on point with it, people are gonna love it. I know the Tayto Park new woodie (I know it has a name but I'll never spell it without looking it up and that's too much effort) has a fab front, but this wins, it's amazing.

Lots of stuff going on in the new area, here are some photos posted by the park today.

There is also some local TV coverage of the expansion here: http://www.tv2oj.dk/artikel/247448

I think they'll add water here soon.

Tractors, there is still a lot to be done with the landscaping here.

Some friends and I visited the park today to check out the new area and chat a bit with the CEO.
He showed us the plans Jora Vision had done for them and all I can say is, that it is going to look great when finished!
This new area is also part of an ongoing process of upgrading the parks infrastructure to accomodate the increasing crowds and the future plans looks very good as well.

Now onto some pictures. There isn't much you haven't seen already, so I'm just gonna go over the noteworthy stuff adding some of the details we were shown today.
I'm quite excited about this project so forgive me for the big enthusiasm for a new family area :--D

Zamperla Barnyard. This will be called the "Milkshaker" and one of their ideas is to have scents go out around the ride area of for instance, vanilla or strawberry. It's not confirmed, but it's likely.

Zamperla Demolition Derby. The theme is that a sheep has painted targets on the bulls behinds, so there'll be a laughing sheep beside the ride with a bucket of red paint.

The tractor ride will go through several "scenes" and this is one of them, the final result should be a cow-house.

The trains have been put on the track and we were allowed to climb a ladder to try and sit in them.
This is a brand new generation of trains from Zierer that Djurs is the first to get. They're more comfortable and look much better in my opinion. The trains was one of my concerns with them choosing Zierer so this was nice to see.
As you can see, I'm quite excited about it!

Zamperla Magic Bikes. This will be themed to a grain mill and it is actually the biggest Zamperla has done, with 10 gondolas.

The foundation and steelwork for the Demolition Derby, which is apparently quite a big piece of work, which is why not a lot of parks has acquired one of these.

Some of the tractor layout. In the areas where guests can't go there'll be this kinda meadow with various themed elements.

Hope you liked the update! - Will be there on opening day 1st of may as well!

Yes, I found out that demolition derbys actually have a massive pit underneath the entire ride footprint (2-3m deep), so they're complicated rides for something that looks quite small.

Didn't know Jora Vision were involved with this...

I'm going back to Djurs this year, and this is looking up to be a fantastic looking area that it needed...
