Disney purchases Lucasfilm for $4B

From speaking to people who work in the industry budgets are always cut. They start of with an amount and things are then trimmed off. I wish they would cut the whole budget and just drop the avatar idea.

Someone on TPR seems to think Disney now own Avatar as well? I had not heard of that deal.

This deal though will not effect the avatar project, the money to buy Lucas would not come out the parks budget.

They don't always drop budget's but usually. If done right however avatar could be great.

They absolutely do not own Avatar. That's why James has been so hard to work with.

I never said it was used to buy Lucas just that it could be used to build a star wars ride.

There are so many stories going round about the studio park it's getting silly.

For one thing there is no way Disney will shut that whole side of the park plus the back to put in Star Wars stuff and Cars Land. It would be done over a few years in many different stages like they did in California.

So far the stories say cars land, Lucas land, monsters inc plus many other things.

So far Disney have said nothing at all.

Like Marvel, this is all the media side of the business and I don't think it has anything to do with the parks at all. How long have Disney owned Marvel, and how much Marvel influence has there been in the parks? It's minimal, and it will remain that way for a long time until the media side of it all is bedded in. There's no way budgets for 5 million set years ago have been cut to have anything to with the (let's just look at the BN after this figure) $4bn dollar buy out of Lucasfilm.

The parks aren't already budgeting based on a deal that has only just gone through. I've no doubt they'll chuck in Star Wars related things, but until that deal was signed this week, it would have all just been pre-prep work - which is why we've also not seen massive Marvel influences yet despite the success of the films - these things take years and years to plan.
