Disney introduce RFID ticketing at Epoct

Just read this on fb lol.

All sounds interesting if a bit confusing. From what I gather you can book food and ride times during your stay and before you go via online and an app.

Problem is our 3G don't work over in the USA so if there no wifi and net access it's only going to work properly.

Interested to see how it works.

^ I think I read somewhere that they've been rolling out free wifi park/resort wide? Can anyone confirm that?

EDIT: Oh wait, simple google and I can: Here

Looks as though this will only be available to people staying on the resort which is a shame.

I can see this becoming a bit of a problem for the fastpass system, as in people turning up on the day and there being no fastpasses left as all the slots have been taken in advance.

That's one of the perks of staying on site though. It's the same with the dining plan, sometimes you cannot book for dinner or breakfast as people have already booked.

Thing is for people who park hop and don't have a set plan this system will limit them.

Why will it limit them? It explains in the article that it's good for both people who want to plan everything, and people who don't;

We know that some people like to plan every aspect of their Disney vacation in advance while others like to plan very little, letting their day unfold spontaneously. No matter where guests fall in that spectrum, My Disney Experience gives them the flexibility to plan as much or as little as they’d like to create the exact Disney experience they want.

Say your in one park in the morning then decide there and then to go to another park, by that time all the slots could have been pre booked.

As it is now even with fast pass by 1pm you have a 4 hour fast pass wait for soarin.

That's only if you intent to plan your day out completely, at the beginning of the day, or before. It says in the article that you can use the app on site to select fastpasses while you're in the park. If you decide to go to a different park, you'd simply log onto the app and pick stuff for the next park while you're on your way.

You CAN plan out your day in advance, but you don't need to. That's the point I was getting at. If you're going to plan out your day meticulously in advance, you're not likely to be the kind of person to then suddenly up and do an unplanned park hop. It's giving you the option to plan everything. It's not saying you have to.

And you mention Soarin' regular fastpasses run out by 1, but MyMagic+ doesn't sound like your basic regular fastpass does it.

As I said before that only works if you can get 3 or 4g, if not you rely on wifi :)

I can see people just booking stuff incase they go.

They will probably lower the amount of fast pass tickets to allow for these new passes.

As said will see how it works out.
