What an exciting topic! How do I think them up?

Corkscrew at Alton Towers, alas RIP, opened in 1980, the same year I was born. Same with the better version of the Corkscrew at Valleyfair!

Other coasters that were "born" in the same year as me include Skyways at Portsmouth (which was probably my first ever coaster come to think of it), Scorpion at Bush Gardens Africa and Big Thunder Mountain at WDW.

Do you share you birth year - or any other anniversary (such as wedding, christening, vasectomy etc) - with any exciting coasters?

The best way of finding out imo is by using this and clicking forward to the desired year: http://www.rcdb.com/ir.htm?order=-6&status=9&page=1

There is quite a lot - 1993. Most notable are probably Batman The Ride, Batman The Escape, Flight Deck, Indian Jones (DLP) and Kumba. They are the ones I recognised most anyway.

Iron Dragon, Lisebergbanan, and Vortex (KI) were the only once I truly noticed.

Mean Streak
Anaconda (King's Dominion)

Those two, at least. 1991, year of mediocrity.

1990 looked to be a poor year for coasters with the highlights being SFoT's Texas Giant, SFoG's Georgia Cyclone, SFMM's Viper and SFGAm's Iron Wolf- None of which you really hear rave reviews about nowadays.

I was born in 1994 so the coasters that spring into my mind are:

Nemesis
Shockwave (Drayton Manor)
PMBO
Raptor
Batman The Ride (SFMM)

There are a few more but these are the main ones. :)

Same year, so those ones. And Ladybird at LWV as well :)

Thought you could get me to admit my age, did ya there Ian.
I'll put it this way, there is only one operating coaster that opened the year I was born and it's truly an historical one. Go ahead and guess...

Crystal Beach Cyclone?

Viper (SFMM), Iron Wolf, Little Laser and... *shudder*... Predator.

Must have been one painful year.

1992:

Batman the Ride (SFGAm)
Vortex (Carowinds)
Big Thunder Mountain (Paris)

That's all I can think of at the moment!

Eagle Fortress, Everland.
Batman, SFGA.
Runaway Mine Train, Alton.
Vortex, Carowinds.

You guess the year.

I was going to say Scenic Railway at Luna Park. Seems about the right time and it's historical :p

Some coasters that opened the same year as moi:

Goudurix @ Asterix
Great American Scream Machine @ Great Adventure
Treetops coaster @ Oakwood :p

More interesting, DLRP opened on my third birthday.

1988..

Avalance- PBB
Raging Wolf Bobs- Geauga Lake
Soopa Loopa- Lightwater Valley
Ninja- Six Flags Magic Mountain
Jetline- Grona Land

1984: the year of bugger all!

Only notable coasters were:

Big Bad Wolf (still there)
XLR-8 (gone)
Space Invader 2 (wish it were gone)

1990. A year of excitement:

Texas Giant
Corkscrew (Silverwood)
Little Laser
Iron Wolf

Closest to my birthdate is Boogie-woogie Space Coaster At Space World, opening on 22/3/1990 when I was born on 29/3/1990.
