BGE 250 Drop Tower 2011 and Multi-Launch Coaster 2012

Urgh, I thought at least Busch would be able to get past the "stick cars into random situations and it's a launch coaster theme" idea...

Maybe they will make it better then Cheetah.. in which case it would be worthy of a visit.

MAJOR BUMP!!!!!!

So Mach Tower is really starting to go up up and away (good pictures foundhere. Looking good so far.

Now about the 2012 coaster. Well, apparently there was a local board meeting in James City that had the full (just about) layout of the new 2012 coaster, which can be found here. I'm wondering what the event building would be, but I'm guessing it'll probably have most of the coaster in it, seeing as there's not much of a layout after it. Also, they say they wanna use as much of the infrastructure in that area as humanly possible, which is also why they're recycling some of BBW's footers, and by the look of it, it may be traveling along where BBW used to roam. Now, looking at the layout, I can't help but think that this does NOT look like a multi launch coaster that everyone's speculating. The layout just does not seem to fit into a launch coaster. Anyone have any idea as to what it could be?

^ Bear in mind, LIM launches don't require that much room, and can be combined with brake runs. Backlot Stunt Coaster features three launches, the last of which is only a matter of feet long before the finale drop.

Many fingers point to Intamin to be doing the construction. Though Cheetah Hunt's construction could insinuate a similar coaster style for BGE (flowing layout, a couple inversions), I wonder if they would take a more Thirteen approach with the coaster design. That is, a basic steel sitdown, not OTSR; a true terrain coaster. This coaster style seems better matched with an indoor themed section. (e.g. Expedition Everest)

Hmmmm, an uninteresting outdoor layout coupled with some kind of "surprise" in the building and suggestions of being built by Intamin.

Now where have I heard about something like that before?

Let's just hope to f**k that I'm totally barking up the wrong Dark Forest with that one.

^ My point exactly.

And the title "Black Forest" is listed twice in the name suggestions ballot.

From BGWfans.com (LINK):

We’ve heard from multiple independent sources that the 2012 multi-launch will have a very unique start to the ride. According to the sources the train will back on to a platform, rotate 90 degrees up, launch straight up to a vertical turntable, turn the train around so the riders are facing down, then drop and go through the remainder of the ride. I’ll give you a moment to digest that.

Here some specific quotes the I’ve been told:

"This is hard to explain without giving anything away directly. Basically, from what we were told, the entire train will move backwards onto a platform that will rotate you 90 degrees, shoot you up, stop you, flip you on your stomach, hold you for 5 seconds, then let you drop and continue the ride.

shoots you straight up, whips you around, a drop like griffon “and then the ride begins”

That just doesn't make any sense to me at all.

To me, that just sounds really stupid and very inefficient. If they really did that, I can see it having a lot of mechanical problems and the ride would probably be down quite a bit.

Right? It's a completely un-Busch Gardens idea. Of course Merlin's already given Th13teen to the world, so who knows what else they'll put their money into.

I'm still waiting to see more, but personally I think that is just too absurd of a concept to really be effective.

Vertical drop gimmick is already on one coaster there, so yeah, can't see this happening. I can see a lifting platform instead of a dropping one, but who knows. Seems kind of boring by looking at this layout.

So turn, launch up, turntable, drop down? That's ridiculous. As whoever it was that said it, it's going to cause a lot of mechanical issues. And multi launch... I would guess there's a launch in the event building. Or two. But the building is 95 feet tall. That's pretty high.

^ Not much more than any other launch coaster that launches with more than 1 g (1 g is required to overcome gravity and say that they were to have a launch force of 1.2 g's then the train acceleration would only be 0.2 g's), and there are quite a few that does, LSM, Hydraulic, or otherwise.
Also at least M&S have shown concepts with vertical launches...

So judging by the quote at the top, then the train would reverse out of the station onto a platform similar to the one on Gravity Max, tipping backwards so that the train point's straight up, before being launched up the tower, at the top it will stop and the whole top section will work as a vertical turntable (wind mill) making the train point downwards before letting it go and then complete the rest of the circuit.
It sound's a bit complex but, if they get it to work then it could be pretty cool if they get the theming right...

Holy Break Downs Batman!

If this is indeed to be built by Intamin, that will add insult to the matter. What was the last Intamin coaster that truly opened without fault?

New rumours from Trips'N'Pics says that this could be a Zierer LSM coaster?? CLICK
It sounds a bit far fetched, but T'N'P usually are correct, so we just have to wait and see...

Zierer does add up more, as they make the Tower Launched Coaster.

Here's a demo picture of the upward launch portion on Wicked.

So you launch upwards into brakes, track rotates, and then drops down the other side?

Up to this point many have also been thinking in terms of a full 6+ car train, but this entire plan is much more feasible with a compact 8 person train.

Yeah, if this turns out to be true, I'm not getting why Busch Europe are suddenly being so cheap with their rides.

Penny pinching by buying cheaper, inferior products (new drop tower) does not suit the park at all.
