[Edit]Just looking at more inconsistencies. Cheetah Hunt was voted Number 2 best new ride last year, yet it doesn't appear in the top 50 steel coasters (fair enough, NTG does).
However, both the third and fourth place coasters ARE top 50 coasters. Yet Twister which is voted joint fourth "best new coaster" beats both Wooden Warrior and Zippin Pippin in the top 50 list.
How can it not be the second best coaster if in the top 50's it beats the other four above it?
It's just so utterly bent it's out and back again!
Remember that there are two different lists for top 50 steel and top 50 wooden coasters.
I know, and Twister is higher in the "Top 50 Wood" than both Wooden Warrior and Zippin Pippin but came in joint fourth place in "best new ride of 2011". If the votes were correct, then it had to come higher.

Then why not participate? If you have members on here that qualify, then email Amusement Today/Golden Ticket Awards and ask to participate.
You want the polls to be less exclusive, do something about it
I'd be interested to see Caffeine_Demon's input on this but...
If I wanted to vote Alton Towers as "best food outlet", or Camelot as "Best Park" then I couldn't unless they were nominated by the committee. If my choice for Best Food was Knoebels, Cedar Point, Dollywood or Holiday Park - then I couldn't vote as I've only been to one of those, so I'd probably put my tick next to the one I've heard is the best (won The Golden Ticket previously).
If my choice for "Best Park" was Cedar Point, SFG America, Morays Pier or Helmsby, then the vote will go to Cedar Point.
See the problem? We don't know what choices are being offered for the categories - so yeah, Cedar Point may win best park each year, but only because it's the only choice available due to the committee.
It doesn't matter how many people vote, if you've got no real choice, then it's still biased.
The example I gave above shows how badly it works too. A ride that is voted for as a better woody loses out in another category to rides that get less "individual" votes. It shows the system is completely and utterly broken somewhere.
