After going to Alton Towers once before, I wasn't expecting much off it as my last visit was very dissapointing, I was expecting massive queues all day because the last time I went it was a school day and it was extremely busy, however this time wasn't as busy hence the ride count.
When getting out of the car, we headed for the Monorail which was about a 5-10 minute wait, once we got to the park entrance, we got our discounted tickets straight away from the pre-booked ticket office. We asked the lady on the desk if we could have the ERT because one person in our group has a Merlin Annual Pass and she said no, which I was actually kind of expecting anyway. So, we got into the park and collected our comp fast track tickets, we got 1 for Th13teen, Air and Nemesis. So we then headed to Forbidden Valley but and got asked if we had our pre-booked tickets for the ERT's we said No but we told them that one person in our group was a Merlin Annual Pass holder and they kindly let us through.

When we got over the bridge, there was confusion in to where Nemesis was? So we had a small argument saying in was left or right and we had a look at the map and turned out, we had to turn left. We went on Nemesis which had no queue what so ever, which was great, we would of done re-rides but we wanted to get the other rides out of the way in Forbidden Valley, Nemesis was quite tame in the morning and I certainly don't see how they claim the Worlds Most Intense Ride? Maybe when it first opened yeah, but not now, that's for sure, I prefer Nemesis Inferno. Admittedly though, it really well themed and I like how it interacts with the terrain but the ride itself is not the best. The next ride we headed too was Ripsaw (I think) this looked quite fun and Mark was telling us you get really wet on it but the jets didn't even touch us. It was a fun ride but is not a ride I'll rush to go back on any time soon but it is worth a visit.

Now Air was our next ride, after never been on a ride like this before, I didn't know what to expect, the waiting time said 35 minutes and I was like, is it really worth it? But the queue ended up to be no more than 10 minutes, I've got to say, I really enjoyed Air as I fount it quite comfortable and was an enjoyable ride (Despite being quite slow)

Our last ride before we moved to a different area was Nemesis Sub-Terror, it not just long opened when we got there so the queue was walk on and we was confused as there was a bin on the main queue and the staff just told us to use the fast track queue. Mark didn't want to go on because he don't like those kind of rides but he came on because we all went on, so it was worth going on too see his face. Having been on this ride before, I knew what to expect, but it still made me jump. The whole experience is really well and done and is extremely well themed.

We then headed to the dark forest to ride Rita and Th13teen via the Sky ride as it just opened and was straight on. Our first ride choice was Rita, but I wish we queued for Th13teen instead as I have never been on it before. Nemesis Inferno is a good ride but it is nothing compared to Stealth, so that's why we only went on once during the trip. Once we got off Rita, we wanted to go on Th13teen but unfortunately they just evacuated the queue and it never re-opened for the rest of the day. Next up was Hex, I fount Hex to be really fun, we entered and it said HEX is currently experiencing a technical delay but this was soon fixed and we was straight on the ride. I fought the story line was quite weird as it was about a branch of an old oak tree what got struck by lightning. The ride itself was alot better (Can replace Impossible anyday) I wasn't expecting it to have quite a lot of force on the ride as it really does mess with your head and feels like you leaning forward and back.

When we got off the ride, we headed to Charlie and The Chocolate factory which was an ok ride but I prefer the River Caves, we queued for that and it was no more than 10 minutes. When we got off though, the queue was massive for it (Glad we went on when we did) So we all headed over to Sonic Spinball which had a queue of no more than 10 minutes despite Mark saying the queue was about 30 minutes. The queue was moving very quickly and the dispatch times were great. Now again I wasn't expecting much from this ride as last time I fount it quite boring as the cars didn't actually spin but this time was different, we decided to odd the weight out to make it maximum spin and it spin quite a lot, overall I enjoyed it.

Next up, I went to go and get my Smiler Fast track ticket on what I won from the Advocate test and when I got out, I coudn't find where the others went and it turns out they went to get there Th13teen priority pass changed to The Flume which had a 40 minute queue. So we headed to the Flume ride, the fast track queue was shut so we went straight up the rides exit. I sat at the front, followed by Mark, Kurtis and Peter. All we saw was trees, a Duck in the bath and more trees, although the ride was quite fast. We decided the drenching shouldn't end there so we went to go on the Congo River Rapids ride, we got to the entrance and the queue line was just ridiculously long, it was endless (Seems quite pointless queue) So yeah, the ride was walk on but it takes 5 minutes just to get to the dam thing. It was just endless laughing all the way round because we didn't know what to expect until it came to the waterfalls, there were tiny splashes here and there on the ride but we didn't actually get that wet as it was quite disappointing. Although Mark said it's a hit and miss ride.

The next ride was duel... Anyone who wants a good laugh, you should go on with Mark... I have never laughed so much in my life as Mark was screaming like a little girl :D

We then used our other 2 complimentary priority passes to go back on Nemesis and Air. Nemesis was a hell lot better this time as it was more intense as it had warmed up, so Kurtis view of the ride changed. We got on Nemesis within 5 minutes and Air within 10. The normal queueing times for this ride was 50 minutes for Air and 40 minutes Nemesis. Our next ride was Blade which was very disappointing. everyone on the ride was screaming and we were like SHUT UP! :D We headed for the Sky Ride to go back to Dark Forest to see if Th13teen was open and it wasn't, we then went on the 4D cinema which was quite good and when we got out, there was am area closed off next Charlie and The Chocolate factory because a massive branch had feel off from one of the tree, spooky right?

Our next destination was X Sector and we went on Oblivion, Kurtis was a bit scared because it had a vertical drop but when it finished he was like... Is that it? The ride itself is good but there could of been more added to it at the time of building.

Then we headed for The Smiler! I decided to use my fast track ticket which is extremely quick as it was only a 5 minute wait, I managed to get on the front seat, (Easily the best ride at Alton Towers) The only criticism for the Smiler was that the second half is the roughest part and on the Cobra roll, there a bit which smashes your head against the sides which really hurts, never the less it was a great ride. When getting off, I notices the others didn't wait and went straight on the ride, so I decided to go back on again and saw them in the queue. I could of joined the single riders queue which could of been quicker but I wanted to take lots of pictures of the ride and make a video of the Smiler which I have now done and is now on Youtube. I exited the Smiler and they were in the shop. Peter bought a Smiler coat and a Smiler T-Shirt which cost under £50 altogether as he used Mark's Merlin Annual pass (Would of costed over £60 otherwise) and so we headed out to the entrance and got on the Monorail back to the car.

I hoped your enjoyed the trip report and below I have posted a video of The Smiler and here are some pictures :) (Most pictures are off The Smiler) :D

Here is a video I have created for your enjoyment of The Smiler

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed having a look at the pictures... P.S Sorry for the excessive amount of Smiler pictures, when your standing in a queue for so long, you just can't help taking a load of pictures :D

You were lucky to have the fast passes. I hate Alton when it's just queueing all day, such a chore.

Best time to see why Nemesis is so acclaimed is back row, in the dark in late October (or back row in the rain at the end of the day). I find it very hit and miss and the middle seats are really dull. NI I find to be pretty decent no matter where you sit; it's a little less hit and miss.

Nemesis really isn't at its best in the first hour of opening. However, after that it really warms up and it is incredible. Like Furie said, the back row is the best place to sit.

Nice report, glad you had a good time, but sorry to hear that Nemesis wasn't running as she can.
