The spider theme was on the original plans that were submitted.

Yeah, at first they mentioned, "Theming Feature A, B or C or some letter", then 2 weeks or so after, someone found the plans of the theming elements too. It was known from a very early stage.

One draw back of understandably pushing back the opening date is that there is less to talk about because Merlin doesn't need to blast the public with updates yet. It's all subtle piggy-backing.

But yes, I had a thought. I am not preaching. I'm just stating a revelation I had.

Secret Weapon doesn't mean Thrill Ride.
It means something unique.
It's just a coincidence that Nemesis, Oblivion and The Smiler are high-thrill rides.

Thirteen and Air are not explicitly thrill rides. They are more family.

Rita is neither a high thrill ride nor a Secret Weapon.
So why is 13 and Air Secret Weapons? World's First Freefall drop track. World's first true flying coaster.

Which does definitely mean Secret Weapon 7 will have something of note worth marketing. I mean, yes, ok we have these tag lines of World Birsting, but if we didn't have then, it would still be a safe bet. If it didn't have something unique, it wouldn't have a SW tag. SW=/= Thrill, they're independent. The potential of self-duelling I don't think by itself is enough for the SW tag. It's certainly going to be a timeless aspect, like Nemesis' terrain hugging or unique intensity in B&M Inverters. But Nemesis was also the Second Steel Inverting Inverted Coaster in the world.

Summery.

I don't think it's just The Smiler's layout and Potential to Self-Duel that has given its SW tag. I strongly think there's something else which is special in addition.

tks

Let me just stop you right there.

1. Rita is a pretty damn intense ride.
2. Summary

But is it rather summery.
I never rode the ride so it was very arrogant of me to make a sweeping statement about intensity. But do you get what I mean...? Rita doesn't invert, have steep bits, have a shock element.

Rita is a launched coaster, that's a good enough gimmick for Alton. It certainly was when it first opened. A lot of people still find launch coasters intimidating, a lot of my friends refuse to ride them. I'd say that more than qualifies for intense.

Your theory is flawed. You just said that thrill =\= secret weapon.

Nemesis' intensity isn't even all that unique. So tell us why it was an SW again?

Second inverted inverting coaster in the world is pretty big deal. Especially in the age when it's not so easy to know what's going on in the world compared to now.

SW is just the code name for Altons major projects*.

World's firsts/gimmicks have nothing todo with it. It's just a coincidence that they feature a special element.

*please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I've always thought of them.

Nemesis was not the second inveting inverted coaster in the world - at least 3 opened before it.

However, it was Europe's first.
