Not sure if this has been done.

But ok, sure there's alot nicely shot, even professional POVs (and the FAB CF ones) of your favorite rides. But every now and again you'll stumble on a POV video that really captures the feel of the ride and reminds you really of what it feels like to ride in person. Whether it's the view point that the camera is, the people in the video and what they're saying.

I found this one of Nemesis recently. There's something about it not being in the front row that really makes it work. The guy filming may not be keeping the camera super steady, but it's still watchable, and the girls hair in the front shows off the speed. The way you see the scenery fly past the side of the car is just something you don't seem to get on a front row POV.

Now I'm not condoning any kind of illegal filming. You should not be taking amateur POVs of rides!

I think if I wanna get a 'feel' for the ride, I'll try and watch ones with riders in, just to see how they move around in their seats, the expressions and their feelings towards it. The best part of this is the fact that more and more coaster companies are offering on-board videos in addition to on-ride photos, just like Baco, Goliath (Walibi - some videos out there) and Formula Rossa. If I just want to see the ride, I'd see a normal front row POV.

It's a little like the F1 view, so you get to see more of the movement, it's more interactive. I do like them, as you feel more "there", but I still like a "pure" POV.

I'm not so keen on "fixed mount" POVs though. If they're hand held, you get to see the air the rider gets as the camera rises and falls with the coaster. It's "elastic" and gives a much better feel for a coaster.

I love the one of me and Minor_Furie on Boulder Dash, okay, for personal reasons, but there are two things. 1, you can see Minor_Furie grabbing me for "comfort". 2, there's a sweeping right hander before the turnaround, and you can see that Jerry just gets an absolutely massive amount of sustained airtime from it. It looks like the trains has flown off the tracks (at about 1:18).

The Nemisis POV really does make the scenery feel extremely close! I know what you're saying by capturing the feel of the ride. The professional POVs can be too smooth!

Ahh I came across that POV before and saved it as it was very true to the feel of the ride!

The best way to get the feel of a ride from a video is always back row, mounted. That way you can see the train cars shuffle in relation to the track/surroundings and you can visually see the forces and transitions act.

Busch did a great one of Alpie and Kumba (see Kumba's on RCPro). Untill seeing them, I didn't realize how twitchy their transitions where. Alp's cobra roll, MCBR being good examples. They really snap.

That Nemesis POV is certainly impressive! I could virtually feel the pull of all the transitions - it's strange how you don't get that effect with a front row video. It definitely looked a lot faster and more savage than the 'smooth' povs I've seen. Although it did the one thing that annoys me, and that's leaving out the full lift-hill! I just love watching the slow ascent to the top - it definitely builds the tension! I've noticed it's usually the US POVs that do station to station videos.

I love the Nemesis one, it's exactly how I remember the ride. And omg has Minor Furie ever grown! Cute how he's grabbing your arm though, hehe.

This has long been my favourite. Just because he starts off sounding a bit of a cocky bastard, then starts screaming like a girl.

Warning: Lots of swearing

That Nemesis POV is great. I think it's because it's so much more natural to see the interaction of riders and the ride itself with the surroundings, instead of just the bare track. It's much more easier for us to be able to visualise the motion.

If anyone finds any more videos like that, please post :D

This topic is genius.

Don't actually have anything to add, though.

EDIT: Went on a journey through my youtube favourites...

This video that Tim took during the Germany Live of 08 is incredible because of the mexican waves of vocalisation as each force is felt. Haha.

This video of a really good spin on Dragon's Fury captures the ride well...

^ That first one is worth it just for Stone Cold's reaction at the end! lol!

Edit: re-posted on next page.

Snoo and UC sex faces!!!

****ity **** **** ****!

Balls... Really sorry Jerry, clicked ****ing edit instead of quote and didn't notice. Stupid git :(  ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) - Furie

That is why I love taking trips with good ol UC. He just gets the silly in me to come out. And yes.. before Boulder Dash.

Jerry has a number of myself and UC riding at SFGAdv.

Thanks furie! :p
OK, Let's try this again...

The Nemesis video is nice for all the reasons stated, but I have to admit that I don't watch many POVs. I guess it's because when I first started to most were **** or they were mounted ones that didn't give the real feeling of the ride, which is why I started to film them myself.
That being said here are some of my alternate POVs that I like the most.

This one is a bit shaky for my usual standards, but I like that it's filmed from the back seats with an almost empty train & it really captures El Toro's head choppers as you go flying by.

Then there's the ones I filmed of MouseAT, Aidan & my wife racing against Mike & myself on Lightning Racer with the camera always pointed at the other train. I like the way you get a good view of the complete track layout & a feel for the way the trains interact.

There's also this one of Snoo & Aidan on Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain. I like the way that neither of them have a clue as to what's going to happen next & the car in the front (that you can see what the cars look like & the way it turns & twists so abruptly).

Then there's my favorite one, which is a reverse POV of Snoo & UC on El Toro. Have you even seen two enthusiasts enjoy a coaster more than this?

One of my favourites has to be the one of Brad, Gavin, Aidan and I riding El Toro for the first time. It gives a great sense of how incredible this coaster is!
