I can't stand 3-D. Avatar, aka Pocahontas in space, was nothing more than an acid trip. Yeah it felt real, but then again, so does any other movie that is not anime. I worked at a movie theater for almost 4 years, two of them to be exact, and honestly, I prefer 2D. A. It's cheaper. B. Most movies that are 3D are converted afterwards making it look awful and fake. If a film is shot IN 3D, I will see it that way, otherwise, I see it in 2D because thats how it was actually shot. Animated movies are so advanced now that the feeling of depth is already there, without putting glasses on. Compare Toy Story 1 to Toy Story 3, the depth and change of scenery is incredible.

Until we are able to bring our own 3D glasses in and the extra cost is eliminated, ok it will just be added on, I will avoid it whenever I can.

I like 3d films but do agree that most are not worth the extra cost. For example, i have seen avatar in 2d and 3d and although 3d was better it was not worth the money.

I voted depth.

In my local cinema (Apollo) they make you keep reusing your 3D glasses. They charge you a small amount extra for the film but you're saving about £1.50 as you don't have to keep buying the glasses each time.

Strip your greatest creation down to a mere exercise in tedium and cash cowism - knob.

You say that like he hasn't already done that with an entire trilogy :P

And everyone secretly knows Indiana Jones is better than Star Wars anyway...

Not wanting to take this off topic (he says wanting to do exactly that :P ), I honestly believe that Lucas was sincere in his attempt to bring the story of "Darth Vader and the clone wars" to the world. I don't think at that point it was a cynical attempt to earn him more money.

However, I think that pretty much everything since "Attack of the Clones" has been exactly that. I think he realised he's a **** writer, **** director and could make money hand over fist anyway - so why not?

I'd agree about Indiana Jones, but Star Wars ahas Empire Strikes Back which is a brilliant film, and Indiana Jones has Temple of Doom which is poo. We'll ignore anything after writing started on "Howard the Duck" happened in the world of George Lucas.

When's Spielberg going to give us Jurassic Park 3D BTW?

I was just at a filming of a 3D movie as an extra, and the cameras are really much bigger than normal cameras.

Plus, everything took like a half hour longer to move and adjust and stuff than normal.

So... yeah.

Has anyone watched the football/darts/golf on Sky sports 3D yet?

Now that really is amazing! I watched the last England game in 3D in the pub and I couldn't believe how it looked. Trouble is everyone looks like n0bs wearing stupid glasses in the pub

I truely believe its the future of television though, they will create a way of viewing it without the glasses one day and thats when it will really take off.

As for watching 3D films in the cinema, not a fan myself, I haven't really found it too impressive and I find it quite straining on my eyes after a long period of time, don't know if anyone else has experienced that?

^^ It's called Dolphin's Tale, it's based on a local dolphin with a prosthetic tail. They like just started filming, I was there yesterday.
