Re: 2013 Internet Wooden Roller Coaster Poll (Mitch Hawker's

Hello! I'm new here on CF although I've been visiting and reading the forum for a long time, now I have decided to open an account here and share with you the votes I sent this year to the poll to start my activity here, why not? Here we go:

Following Riding Sensations:
1. Floating Airtime
2. Sensation of Speed
3. Abrupt Airtime
4. Out of Control Feeling/Directional Changes
5. Lateral Forces
6. Positive G's/Loops

List of wooden credits:

My Favorite Steel - Millenium Force (Cedar Point)
El Toro (SixFlags Great Adventure)
Troy (Toverland)
Lightning Racer, T (Hersheypark)
Lightning Racer, L (Hersheypark)

Wildcat (Hersheypark)
Magnus Colossus (Terra Mítica)
Tomahawk (PortAventura)
Gwazi (Lion) (Busch Gardens Tampa)
Stampida (PortAventura)

As you can see here, I hate (really HATE) the Spanish catalog and I'm in full love with GCI and Intamin wood coasters. And yes, Wild Mouse deserves a good position, it's hard to not enjoy like a child in a coaster like this ^^

After reading around some forums and seeing lots of lists being submitted, I would not be surprised if Outlaw Run takes the top spot.

If not it's going to be way up there.

I put it as the top coaster overall, but of course I've only ridden 4 wooden roller coasters (1 kiddie included) so my ballot won't help its cause much.

Really wish Outlaw Run wasn't 6 hours from anything worth seeing. Was trying to do a road trip to ride it next year and it's not working.

Meh! Oakwood usually ends up being a six hour journey for me but I still go regularly and there's nowhere near the amount there to draw me in than SDC has. Suck it up and make the effort! :)

Not picking on you BBH, but "every little helps". People who say "I'm not voting because such and such is fixing it..." or whatever are then depriving themselves of the chance to make things better. I'm not talking about lying or fixing ballots, but every little really does help. Every vote that is true makes it more accurate. It's better to make the effort and make a stand than to sit back defeated!

So I think it's important that everyone who has an interest in this votes, no matter how large or small their experience :)

^^ Ummm....there's stuff to see in Kansas City and St. Louis. I know, they are not super close, but less than 4 hours.

SFGAm, Cedar Point, King's Island, Holiday World, and the Wisconsin Dells (and a whole bunch of smaller parks) are all within 6 hours and a lot of those parks are in the same general area. SDC is 9 hours and the only thing on the way is SFStL.

Current plan is King's Island/Holiday World/Indiana Beach in a 4 day weekend this summer.

Went to St Louis 2 years ago for a weekend trip. It was okay but I have no desire to go back and I'd never recommend it.

Kansas City I didn't consider. It doesn't really line up well for the direction I'm coming from (3+ hour detour) but it's a place I've never been.

I was kind of hoping by saying that someone would mention something I missed. :(

Re: 2013 Internet Wooden Roller Coaster Poll (Mitch Hawker's

You really could make a weekend trip as Prowler is fantastic, worth the trip to Worlds of Fun alone. Yeah it's out of the way, but you wouldn't be driving all that way for one park. There is also plenty to do in Branson to keep it from being a dud trip.

From what everyone has said, I would be surprised if Outlaw Run is NOT the new number one. I fully expect it to be 1 or 2 for several years based off those I talked to who love it.

Re: 2013 Internet Wooden Roller Coaster Poll (Mitch Hawker's

^Wow I wouldn't think Hades 360 would be down with Magnus Colossus and Antelope.

Re: 2013 Internet Wooden Roller Coaster Poll (Mitch Hawker's

^ I dunno, the only good thing I have heard about that thing is "the loop is smooth."

Re: 2013 Internet Wooden Roller Coaster Poll (Mitch Hawker's

Looks pretty good to me. My number 1 rated coaster finished 11th. If the other 3 Happy Valley Gavity Group woodies are as good as Fireball I can understand their positioning.

With 4 more GG woodies in China over the next 2 years they could start dominating the upper end of the charts behind the Intamins (probably :p)

Re: 2013 Internet Wooden Roller Coaster Poll (Mitch Hawker's

Outlaw Run missed it by thaaaaat much. only a one rider comparison puts T Express in second place, and El Toro's lead on second and third is by a matter of ten thousandths of a point.

This year's rankings seem pretty fair - glad to see the usual suspects there and strong showings for debuting wooden coasters. I was most surprised by GoldStriker at 13th place - it was a roller coaster tampered by controversy with park neighbors (not to mention years and years of permitting issues), but has been a well received roller coaster with kick.

Hahaha, that's not surprising at all. It's so rough that it completely detracts from the ride experience. The Timberliners aren't that good (they're rough and the restraints aren't great). It's got a good layout, but it's let down by the ride quality.

I'm glad it came in so highly. I really enjoyed it. It has a nice layout, it's got a good flow, it looks great, and is a lot of fun. I'm very glad that we stayed in the park until it opened, we were there all day without it running, then a couple of hours before the park closed it opened up - so we got a few rides on it before we left. It was great!
