I think the wheels are at the front of the car, and the back car is attached to the catch car bogie, so it would have been on the track as normal - the train would fishtail and fly about all over the place if it only had one set of wheels. It wouldn't make the cobra roll that's for certain.
The...
I have seen a picture of the detachment and can offer some mechanical background to the affected parts and possible reasons for their failure
The cars on this particular model (MK1200 trains) are joined together on a swivel pin, or a King pin, that goes from one car into another. It is a fixed...
Scrap value wouldnt quite recuperate the initial costs but perhaps the ride could be sold to rescue some monies.
You have to understand that if the ride is constantly breaking down its costing the tech team unecessary wasted time and if gerstlauer arent offering any warranty or goodwill...
It's not rubbish at all. You are right that the park is run poorly but you'd have to be either incredibly naive or pig ignorant to deny the nature of the ride is a huge contributor to its wear and tear. It DOES run on standard SLC gear and it IS about twice as intense as a regular SLC so it's...
The cynical part of me thinks it will be closed for as long as it takes merlin to weigh up what's worth more to them - the employee at fault or the £18m roller coaster that is on the firing line if it's made to be not fit for purpose.
Interesting point on the article by the guardian that the operators room is completely enclosed and in no view of the track whatsoever - relying on a control panel to tell you where the trains are etc. Perhaps a practice that should be stopped asap. The operators need to see the ride they are...
The smilers recent failure has prompted me to think what rides have been a complete flop since opening and are clearly not up to the job
1. Smiler
Recent accident, bolts coming loose, wheels falling off, all in the space of 2 years
2. Jubilee Odyssey
One of the most (if not THE most) expensive...
Not quite - there are a number of proxy sensors (for restriants up, restriants down, seatbelts in, flying position, inverted position) that are all wired into a junction box per seet. Then the junction box wiring loom passes through a flexible cable track to contact pads which touch the contact...
It isn't back-seat furious baco rough thats for sure but yes I agree it rattles a lot. It just seems to clunk its way around the track. It just sounds like everything on the train is worn out, so it would be nice to ride with a new train for comparison?
(That's if its a new train, which I'm...
For some reason I find the freefall slides unbearable as it is best desribed as being pressure washed in the face. You have to cover your face and because of this you don't know when the end pool is coming and is quite terrifying.
Furius baco full stop is complete insanity
The launch is fantastic insanity
The rest of the ride is just painful insanity and pure WTF!
I love the trains but the style just makes it hellishly rough. The front inside seats are a fantastic ride and would rate 10/10 but you are exposing yourself...
This poll really seperates the hardcore woodie fanbase to the steel rider with grand national / wild mouse and PMBO. Despite being two completely different rides they are definitely comparable as the two best in the park. Infusion may have inversions but it's main claim to fame was the water and...
I have tried to figure out why a 12 year old SLC is as worn as a 20 year old SLC for years and years and have struggled to come up with anything feasible. I presume the trains are removed from track and either sent off to vekoma or serviced by on site techies so when riding on the august and...
Is it a new train completely or just a repaint/new panels? (edit: Tom G beat me to it)
The coaster was in dire need of a new train it definitely seemed to rattle and move about a lot. It wasn't pleasant getting shunted from the car behind because the couplings were excessively worn out. However...
Probably th14teen. It can be a 2+ hour wait at the best of times, for lets be honest a kids ride. Worst of all the cattle pen queue is mostly outdoor and looks the same each time you make significant progress. It's soul destroying especially if it's the first time you've rode it and you're...
Well it definitely isn't infusionizer. Seeing as I last rode PMBO when it was 9 years old and still pretty smooth and well kept then i'd say PMBO. But if I rode it today I would probably vote Grand National for the originality.
