    UK dark coasters

Glad to hear it! There's a small chance I might go to Lightwater Valley this season so definitely look forward to that (if I go!). I really think the UK needs something like Eurosat or Vogel Rok, both stunning experiences in my opinion.

    UK dark coasters

I'd give anything to see a new dark coaster in the Black Hole tent. Well, truth be told I'd give anything to see the Black Hole back in the Black Hole tent, but that ain't gonna happen :-( I just don't understand why (UK) parks don't build them any more; they can be absolutely fantastic!

The sorry state of X:\ No Way Out

What on earth has happened to this ride? Over the years it just seems to have been left to rot, and now, in what seems like the final nail in the ride's coffin, it's permanently run with the lights on. Now, I've never been a huge fan of this ride (always found it a little bit of a let down)...

    UK dark coasters

A friend went to Thorpe today and said X:\ No Way Out was running with the lights on. Googled it and apparently they're doing this now (after 14 years!) to reduce motion sickness. Well done Thorpe management, you truly are cretins. One of the few remaining UK dark coasters ... no longer a dark...

    UK dark coasters

They're claiming it to be the UK's *only* dark coaster!? I knew Brean had bought Space Invader but wasn't sure whether they'd be running it enclosed or not. Glad to hear they are, just wish it were somewhere other than Brean; never been there but it looks like a total dive. I may well be...

Rollercoasters that you wanted to ride, but got dismantled.

Yeah I read that, but it probably won't be enclosed, will it? It was the enclosed aspect of Space Invader that appealed to me the most.

    waterparks?

I associate water parks with sun burn. I genuinely enjoy them when I'm there but don't really look forward to going. Not sure why, I'm a reasonably strong swimmer but I think I just don't feel incredibly safe on the crazier water slides - I went on one of those kamikaze/really steep water slides...

    Have you ever ridden alone?

I've never been to a park on my own but have ridden alone before. I rode Xpress and El Condor at Walibi World NL on my own as my friend was too frightened (she went and sat on a bench and read a book whilst I queued!), plus I went on Thirteen on my own as, although I was with a friend, we both...

Rollercoasters that you wanted to ride, but got dismantled.

Space Invader 2 at Blackpool. Only made it to the Pleasure Beach for the first time this year so never got to go on this, and seeing the building still there at the park just added insult to injury. The Gebirgsbahn at Phantasialand. Really regret not going on this the first time I went to...

    UK dark coasters

What decent enclosed coasters are there left in the UK and how likely is it that we'll see a new one any time soon? I love dark coasters, and really miss the Black Hole, and am sad I never got to ride Blackpool's Space Invader. I think X:\ No Way Out is dire, though. So, what decent dark...

    Valhalla effects

I keep reading about a vortex that's supposed to be in there, not sure I saw that, whereabouts is it? Edit: oh, it's the water tunnel after the first drop, I had some kind of whirlpool in mind when I read 'vortex'. The water tunnel was working, and got us incredibly wet. Also, apparently...

    Valhalla effects

I went on Valhalla for the first time a couple of weeks ago and have been told that rarely do all the effects work, so I was just wondering whether I may have missed out on any. I rode it 3 times over 2 days and noticed the following minor differences between each ride: - On one ride the...

    Valhalla BPB - how high?

Out of interest, does anyone know how high Valhalla's highest (i.e. second) drop is? I read somewhere that it's 85 ft but that puts it at the same height as Tidal Wave at Thorpe and something tells me it's not quite that high, although I may be wrong.

The Thorpe reliability thread - 2009 edition.

Rides going down every now and again I can understand - if there's a technical fault with it then that's (usually) not the park's fault and they get it fixed as soon as they can. Turning off effects which really make the ride, however, is unforgiveable in my opinion. I'm really hoping that...

The Thorpe reliability thread - 2009 edition.

I think to be honest they should probably have a warning on their website to the effect that Saw is currently experiencing minor technical difficulties, remaining until it really is sorted out for good. To be honest, my main beef with Thorpe is their complete lack of respect for any of their...

The Thorpe reliability thread - 2009 edition.

Fair enough that things happen unexpectedly but had the website said Saw was not going to be running then we would not have gone (our whole purpose was to go on Saw, everything else there we've already done countless times and we would have just waited for another day). The same may well not...

The Thorpe reliability thread - 2009 edition.

Well I went today and Saw was closed for most of the day. The website said all rides were available, and there was nothing at the entrance to suggest otherwise. However, on arriving at Saw we were told it would be opening later on in the day, but not given a reason for the late opening. It was...

    Thoughts on Saw

Glad it's up and running again, really really hope it stays that way until at least next Wednesday (although preferably a lot longer than that!!).

    Thoughts on Saw

Anyone got any idea how long Saw will be out of action for? I'd planned to go to Thorpe next Wednesday but if Saw's still not working then I won't bother. What a great start to the new season!
