Detailing is now being applied to the station building. It definitely seems inspired by Icon, but judging by the cladded metal and details of natural wood and metal mesh, it'll certainly be a whole lot more vibrant looking than Icon's station.
It was reported a while ago that numerous Disneyland Paris executives, including their operations director, were recruited by PortAventura. My thinking is that they were recruited by Universal and that the buyout has always been on the table. A Universal resort in the Mediterranean, and another...
Shame they're not installing two of the swing rides. It's a fantastic ride model, but there'd really ought to be at least two of them next to each other to absorb the crowds.
A lot of amusement parks have very loose and stylistic 'themed' aesthetics, but that doesn't make them true theme parks. True theme park themes are actually story themes. A theme park has one primary goal, and that is to tell a story wherever you are in the park. Thorpe Park does not do that...
It is, but the instrumentation is different from the snippet they played for us. I think it was just an edited down version of the longer ride soundtrack.
It's representative of an aesthetic led amusement park rather than a true theme park. Thorpe Park isn't really what I'd call a true theme park, I'd compare it to European amusement parks like Liseberg, which are more stylized but do also encompass a few themed attractions. To call Thorpe a true...
The actual airtime on Shambhala was also some of the most sustained I've experienced, and Helix has a great mix of sustained air with world class floaty hangtime.. we're getting the best of both worlds on Hyperia.
Shambhala is a breathtaking experience. I haven't ridden other B&M hypers but it's easily in my top 5. I do think that Hyperia will be a lot better though, it's got a mix of widely unique elements.
Thorpe Park is too small, and there are surrounding green belt areas. Anything the size of DC Rivals would never have been possible, the park cited 'visual pollution' as a reason for not sticking with the longer layout. The problem is, most of the UK parks are a stone's throw away from green...
One thing that this ride will not have is a lack of airtime moments. The majority of the rides elements are airtime fueled. There are five airtime moments in total, which for a shorter coaster is a really exciting amount.
It's an alright name, clearly wasn't the park's first choice, but still it's something very positive, uplifting and quite mythic. Makes a very pleasant change.
The on ride POV was a very exciting thing to watch, this thing is going to be a complete monster.
People saying that Exodus would've been a better name... honestly, it would not have made sense given the seemingly greek mythological theme they're going for, and I'm pretty sure that religious groups would've been alienated by it also.
