What would Oblivion be like floorless.

I posted this topic because i wandered what other peoples views on this idea are. I think it would be better if oblivion was floorless because i heard sheikra at BGA was better when it became floorless like Griffon.

I am not sure about this because i think you would feel more open on the drop which would be better but i agree with in the sense that it would not enchance the whole of the ride.

To be honest, I don't think my feet touch the ground at all during the ride. The only thing that would really be much different would be the removal of the big bar in front. And it would only give the full exposed feeling to anyone in the front row.

You'd get a better visual down the drop.. and the 'feeling' of floating openness at the top of the drop.

That's it really.

Oblivion is just fine as it is.

All it would do is increase the load time and I dont think it would add anything to the ride at all. I did not even notice Shekra being floor less tbh.

I dont see the point of floor less coasters I dont see what they add to the experience.

I agree that it wouldn't enhance the rides excitement or whatever.

However, as others have said, it would make the drop feel more open and exposed for people on the front row.

But Oblivion is great as it is..it doesn't need changing.

Jayjay is correct...

For the majority of riders their feet don't get near the floor anyway, and for several others people put their legs straight resting on the bar in front, hence it's already floorless to a degree...

It would be a desperate act imo to advertise as a new attraction, something I don't think Merlin would be planning upon, as the cost of putting in a new floor would be tremendously large, and that money should be invested on much, much more important things...

I think it does clear up the view a bit, and it would be awesome in the outer seats.

That said, it isn't worth the change for the couple of improvements it would bring. The ride has done its job as an investment, and I can't see a real justification, unless they really wanted to market the UK's first floorless coaster.

When Sheikra's station was built, they built it knowing that it would have floorless trains in the future. So they left room for the floorless mechanism to fit into.

Oblivion however, if it were to go floorless, the whole station would basically have to be rebuilt. Therefore it would cost alot more than is actually worth it to 'clear up the view'.

But i bet if it did become floorless more people would come to the park becasue it would be the first floorless coaster in the uk.

I don't think it would be worth it. It would cost a lot for one thing, then it would increase the queue times by quite a lot because of the extra procedure that needs to be done when loading.

The only floorless (non-inverted) coaster I've ever been on is Kraken, and I don't think it would change with a floor, except a tiny change in speed because of added weight.

Me, not liking Oblivion would not want any more mony spent on it if at all possible, without upsetting the public with it's closure. Therefore, I would maintain the ride without spending any more than necessary.

Which begs the question; why not do floorless from the start?

^ The technology wasn't quite ready when Skeikra was built, but B&M said that it would be ready by the the time Griffon was built (2007)

However Busch didn't wanna hang around until then for Sheikra to be constructed, so the station was built knowing that at some stage it can be changed into floorless trains.

Yes Sam I always thought it was funny that we thought the same things on most of the rides in Orlando and we went at the same time and did not go together.
