Peppa Pig World for Paultons 2011

Considering the age range for Paultons (2-11), and the average age for Peppa Pig (1-8), I think this will fit in nicely.

I went to the park yesterday and managed to grab a few photos (much to the cries of "goon" from the others :p)

Ok, there's not much to tell from it, aside from it's muddy but progress seems to be shifting along.

One thing that did strike me was how MASSIVE the area is - 3 acres in all! richy_t's MSPaint map on the previous page does show the location correctly, but seriously, it's HUGE! An ambitious investment for the park imo.

As always, photos taken on iPhone so excuse poor quality and lack of zoom. There was no actual building activity as it was a Bank Holiday.

This image is taken from the western perimeter of the area, near the meerkats.

From the northern perimeter. You can clearly see a concrete layout of a track and a (I'm assuming) a ride op hut in the mid ground.

Mud!

Pipes, ducting and stuff.
ppw310510%20(4).jpg

You may have noticed the BIG building in the background that looks a bit like a motorway services. That is situated down by the exit to Waterforce. It'll house an indoor playarea, shop, food outlet etc.

Ok, so I apologise for them not being the best of photos and they were all taken from outside the building site, but I'm likely to get some better ones as the work progresses.

I did notice that Paultons have put a press release on their website for all to read, I'll quote the important bits (ride/attraction information) for us:
Visitors will be able to see Peppa and her family in superbly animated form enjoying breakfast in their hilltop home as well as taking in Peppa’s pre-school, the library and even state-of-the-art animatronic ducks on the pond.

Peppa Pig World will offer seven rides:

* George's Dinosaur ride
* Danny Dog's Car ride
* Peppa's Balloon ride
* Grandpa Pig’s Little Train
* George's Boat ride
* Miss Rabbit’s Helicopter ride
* The Windy Castle

It will also feature a Muddy Puddles area - a unique water feature play area for children to splash around, a 12,000sq ft indoor play area providing a brand new space for visitors to take cover on wet days, and the largest Peppa Pig dedicated shop in the country.
Full press release: http://www.paultonspark.co.uk/pr/pr10/pr004_10.html

The line up is what I expected and I'm sure it'll be well received by kids and families, their target market.

It does appear to be mainly car/tractor style rides but that's my interpretation. Windy Castle is bound to be a walk-thu.

Hahaha, I'll have to wait a few more years for that mega-lite! I am very intrigued to see what PPW is like when it's finished and will inevitably be comparing it to the superb job Drayton Manor had done with Thomasland.

EDIT: I've been informed that Windy Castle is not a walk-thru but a ride!

Doesn't show too much but gives of the scale a bit better and the location of things inside the building.

I spent an hour at the park this afternoon chatting with the management staff about several things and I had a tour of the PPW construction site.

I was shown the artists impression of the land and I can honestly say that it looks fantastic (as artists impressions often do).

Fans of Thomas Land at Drayton (DMP) will be pleased to hear that the same people - RMA Limited, http://www.rma-themedattractions.co.uk - are building PPW! So I'm expecting a high level of theme to create an immersive world. The area is huge - 3 acres!

Time to break up the text with some photos.

Here's the main building which will house a play area, ice cream/snack shop and the largest dedicated Peppa Pig Store in the whole wide world!
pppeppa1.JPG

The roof will have real grass growing on it! There are even little hooks for the lucky people who get to mow it. And those that give a toss about carbon footprints and all that sort of stuff, the grey squares things on top will provide ventilation/cool air without the need for aircon.

And I did ask... No, sorry, the play area will be for kids only (although you will be able to escort a child in there).

The next photo shows the groundwork for either the Windy Castle or Peppa Pig's House, I forget which. (Sorry, Rob!)
pppeppa2.JPG

Windy Castle is not only a great place to make fart references, but it's also going to be a UK-first attraction! From what I can gather, it's going to be very similar to Twist & Turn at Toverland, a teacups-on-acid type ride. It's a "Flying Wheels" attraction, made by Metallbau Emmeln, a German company. In fact, all the attractions in PPW are German made.

Video: http://www.toverland.nl/Internet/Page/5 ... -turn.aspx

From this photo, you can see one of the buildings is raised.
pppeppa3.JPG

If you've ever seen Peppa Pig, you'll know that all of the locations (school, house etc) are on hills. The same will apply to PPW. So instead of having a completely flat themed area, attractions will be set on hills to reflect the actual world of Peppa Pig.

Peppa Pig music will be played throughout the area and there will be meet-and-great character opportunities during peak periods.

On the subject of theme, there will be some "static theming" such as a camper van.
peppa-pig-camper-van-playset.jpg

Animatronics will also feature in PPW, notably in Peppa's House (a walk-thru from what I can gather) and even animatronic ducks on a pond!
ppondtoy.jpg

(The last two images are from the Toys R Us website.)

This is Danny Dog's Car Ride.
pppeppa4.JPG

The pillars are deliberately not straight, so it remains true to the cartoon.

These last two images show the construction of Grandpa Pig’s Little Train. Again, the train will be themed and operate exactly how it does in the show.

pppeppa5.JPG

Paultons have the exclusive license for a PPW in the UK for an undisclosed (read: they wouldn't tell me :p) period of time.

I think it will be very much like Thomas Land at DMP. By that I don't mean they will let the rest of the park rot just to keep one sparkling world, I mean there will probably be one or two attractions suited for the majority of us enthusiasts, but obviously it will be aimed at mainly the under 5's.

Scheduled opening date is Friday 9th April 2011, although there will be a soft opening for "Golden Ticket" winners the week before.

More information will be released in the coming weeks detailing the rides, artists impressions and so forth. As soon as I have it, I'll pass it on.

Fantastic addition by Paultons, they've worked well with the company to bringing this attraction to life.

Hopefully the teacups won't be as slow as the other one ;)

I know it's just "kids stuff" and I know Pepper Pig isn't the world's biggest franchise name (though I do love it), but I don't care. This looks really superb. The amount of effort and attention to detail is brilliant. Why is it that only the smaller "family" parks seem to be willing to make such an extensive effort to theme rides and areas?

Thomas Land is superb, this looks set to be even more impressive. Can't wait until next year now, I see a visit to Paultons happening :)

The map for PPW has been released.

Anybody care to tell me what those 2 condom packet looking things are on the right hand side.

Also, the grass roof has is now taking shape.

It looks like a great area, I'm secretly (and disturbingly!) excited about seeing it complete next year!

I managed to see a PPW leaflet today and the condom packet things are actually golden tickets!

You can enter a draw for tickets to the exclusive opening a week before the public opening! (We will be holding a Live there next season, I really want to try out Windy Castle.)

Full details and entry form can be found on the snazzy micro-site : http://peppapigworld.co.uk

A couple of construction images have surfaced on the PPW website. Progress is coming along nicely.

This is my favourite as it shows the grass roof. I'd love to have a go at mowing it!

Bit of a bumpage here.

The first load of rides arrived in late September and are now operating (but not to the public!).

Peppa Pig World website said:
Windy Castle and Grandpa Pig’s Boat Ride are now in place and working, they look really fantastic!

Elsewhere, an area has been cleared and readied for George’s Dinosaur Adventure which has now been put in to position.

The splashtastic Muddy Puddles area is now complete and is currently being tested – what a great excuse to jump up and down in muddy puddles!

There are a few photos on the PPW website:

Grandpa Pig’s Boat Trip Lighthouse

It's coming along pretty quickly and is looking good imo.

It does look rather good. Very Paultons. Looks like a sort of place that's nice to be, even if you're too old to go on anything.

"Will the ball pool have a drop slide or will it be a bumpy one?"
"Are adults allowed in?"

Apart from that. Looks good. :)

They're advertisin trips to Peppa Pig World in our local paper, I guess its something that gets printed in most local papers? Good on them, I'm sure this is going to bring them loads of success.

^ I've not seen anything in my (and Paultons) local paper, although I rarely read the paper version.

What paper was it? A freebie or a local rag? A proper advert or just a mention? I find it quite fascinating that my local park is advertised in exotic places like Norwich!

I'm sure the folk of Norwich and Southampton can get on quite well, high sixing each other ;).

I'm pleased this is coming on really well, shall be a great coup for them! A lot of people I know back home are excited to go next year.
